2007 in Review - Seiyuu
Next up in the series of restropects is seiyuu. No I’m not gonna dish out any silly awards, just a general overview of what went on in the seiyuu world in 2007.

Finally got down to the anime section. At first I had trouble remembering what I actually watched this year, spent a while browsing through wikis & blogs and finally succumbed to the temptation and signed up for MAL. Now I can keep track of what I’ve watched better….. I think.
In retrospect, I actually thought 2007’s batch of anime was better than last year’s mainly thanks to the slew of good shows from the spring season - the winter and summer batch were pretty awful but that’s something of a tradition by now. Anyway, here’s my best ofs plus a few random awards thrown in.
A very Merry Christmas to all, though it’s actually almost over where I am. I had a nasty cold on Xmas eve and didn’t attend the traditional midnight Mass as a result ^^;; Ah well. Instead, I spent the night watching silly Youtube videos and reading blogs instead……. and I came across the following Christmas message from Kobayashi Yu on her Seigura blog. A side serving of ero-filled seiyuu fantasy to go with your Christmas dinner:
And I thought I’d seen the craziest side of her. So what’s Kobayashi saying in the video?
Translation: Ah, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting~~~Mmm, mou… Hurry up……. and Ride it! Ride it! AAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! Ride it QUICKKK!!! Merry Christmas!!
I’m kinda creeped out that there’s a kid’s voice in the background. Adults these days…..
Once again, メリークリスマス everybody. Hope you were a good boy/girl this year & that Santa got you what you wanted, and not just another pair of friggin’ socks.

Admittedly, I didn’t really take notice of the news that Kemeko Deluxe! was getting animated when I first heard it sometime last month(?), especially after watching the promo video which features cats, machine guns, and somebody that looks disturbingly like Guu’s long-lost cousin…. It only succeeded in making me laugh my head off. But now the cast list is out, and I HAVE TO WATCH IT. It’s got Ota…I mean KitaEri, Kugimi & Tomato-tan in it ^_^ No air date announced yet, but I’m thinking the spring season is pretty likely.

WTH, it’s Tomatsu Haruka again ^_^ Good time to be a fan of hers, she’s now got 3 major roles lined up after she graduates high shool next spring. And it reunites Hayate + Nagi (& Nishizawa too).

At JUMP Festa over the weekend, more details of the ToLove-Ru anime (to air in the 2008 spring season) were revealed. Despite the rumours, it is not GONZO that will handle the animation, but XEBEC (Mahou Sensei Negima). I’m not sure that’s a good thing…. The drama CD cast is retained, which means a huge line-up of big names - in full:
Next in my series of 2007 lists is video game songs, though it could almost be called ‘Top Ten Eroge Songs’ instead.
Hardly anybody outside of Japan plays Japanese games, therefore hardly anybody outside of Japan knows how good Japanese game songs can be. Funnily enough I don’t hold much interest in J-games myself either, apart from the odd yuri visual novel (stuff like the Sono Hanabira Kuchizuke o series).
The voting for Seiyuu Awards is well underway - at the halfway point the official website has updated with a list of initial nominees….. which is as long as my arm. hashihime already has a post that covers the initial voting process, but there’s still lots of time to vote. So to try and make sure your favourites get onto the shortlist, I’ll talk people who want to vote but can’t actually read Japanese through the entire process:
