Got your earplugs ready? OK, here we go.

Ooh, shouty. So instead of Rumbarumbarumba we get Butabutabuta ~_~ I guess that’s the crazy side of Kaere then? The song is called Buta no Gohan (豚のご飯。), and was played on Nonaka Ai’s Rarirure Nichiyobi radio show. It seems Aipon had never heard the song prior to playing it on her show either since she was sounded surprised when she read its title. FYI, the title Buta no Gohan (pork rice) is an inside joke for hardcore Kobayashi Yu fans - it’s her favourite food which she talks about all the time.

That’s Yu with a bored looking Ohtsuki Kenji during the song’s recording above. I was actually eager to hear the song after she’d described it as being ‘digital hardcore’ on one of her blog posts earlier this month but eh… I guess I’ve changed my mind. As Nonaka put it, listening to it will probably wreck my ears. Anyway, Buta no Gohan will be released as part of the Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei best song collection Zetsubo Daisakkai (絶望大殺界) on the 14th of May.

If I win some shiny gold, I promise to stop being lazy and write actual posts instead of posting videos all the time. I also promise to write more crackpot seiyuu profiles, starting with those of Sawashiro Miyuki and Ueda Kana.

But seriously, I don’t expect to win cos I don’t bother to advertise my blog (Hashihime’s got the brand recognition) or even actively participate in any community - I’m so lazy like that. But anyway, good luck to everybody who’s nominated and start canvassing for those votes!

Ah yes, another chance for me to show off my l33t doctorate in seiyuu studies and champion those obscure seiyuu as the bestest ever and go around educating people on why they are good when in reality, nobody gives a toss about seiyuu as long as they don’t sound like somebody farting everytime they open their mouths.

But I know and you know, that we all like young, fresh meat. Preferrably pretty, young, fresh meat. Which is probably why I tried to include as few guys as I possibly could… (no, I’m kidding. I just couldn’t think of any worthy ones). I hope that in years to come, most of the people on the list will still be actively pursuing seiyuu careers - then I can claim that my crystal ball gazing techniques work.

This ranks among one of the most bizarre seiyuu-related videos I’ve ever seen, featuring the One Piece seiyuu (from left to right: Nakai Kazuya - Zoro, Hirata Hiroaki - Sanji, Yamaguchi Kappei - Usopp, Okamura Akemi - Nami, Tanaka Mayumi - Luffy) and a guy dressed as a panda repeating 喘ぎ声 (Aegigoe) over and over again. Aegigoe means panting, and I hear it’s often used in sexual terms >_>

Weird.

Long time followers of the blog might recall a feature I did many moons (ok, 10 months) ago on the Ten of The Next Big Seiyuu. I had a look back at it recently and was amused by the choices I made back then - in retrospect, if I could fiddle with the list I’d change half of it!

Still, 10 months is a pretty long time in the seiyuu world - enough time to make or break a career. How many of my list of ten have managed to infiltrate the barrier of an oversaturated market, and how many have fallen by the wayside, never to be remembered again? How well have I been able to spot prodigious seiyuu talent? How many times have I fallen flat on my face, forced to eat my words? Read on.
