So er…Is éf = Orikasa Fumiko?

Anyone expecting a post about that anime series called ef or something can go away now. This is just me, seeking an answer for something that’s been bugging me for the better part of the last four years.

There have been long-standing rumours, but it’s never been confirmed whether Orikasa Fumiko is really the voice behind the Koi Kaze opening theme of the same name (which is credited to the cryptically named éf). If you listen to the song twenty-thousand times I’m sure you’ll begin to hear the similarities in ‘their’ singing voices. Is it one and the same voice? Somebody tell me I’m not imagining it. Or maybe someone else knows more than I do – is it really her?

You can listen to various Orikasa songs on Youtube: Oto no Hana, Hoshi no Hate and Boku no Rhythm. Although she wasn’t actually involved with the Koi Kaze anime in terms of voice acting, it’s not actually surprising if Orikasa is éf – Geneon Ent. produced the anime and Orikasa’s music career is also handled by Geneon.

Koi Kaze is dearest to me for being the final Okazaki Ritsuko-penned song heard in an anime before her untimely death in 2004 (there were others released posthumously) ;_; I have no idea why I’m listening to Okazaki songs on a Sunday afternoon, it’s making me depressed.

As a side note, I’ve been giving some thought to who my next seiyuu profile should be about since LaGelure brought the subject up – I didn’t realise that it’s been 6 long months since the last one >_< I am however, on the verge of admitting defeat to the notion of writing one for Sawashiro Miyuki since I’ve not collected enough decent material (God, she’s a really boring person ain’t she) – maybe I’ll give her another 12 months. I used to want to do one for Fumiko too but ran into the same problem as Miyuki, so it’s on the backburner for now. Ueda Kana is still on my list, as are Kobayashi Sanae, Saiga Mitsuki, Koyasu Takehito & various others but I’m always open to suggestions.

Kakihara Tetsuya’s Blog (Angers Noto Mamiko Fans)

OK, let’s start with the silly Noto Mamiko fiasco. Now Kakihara Tetsuya posted some pictures of himself (above) with Noto a few days ago on his blog along with some silly comments fantasising about himself getting ‘caught’ trying to get it on with Mamiko by the paparazzi. He denies being a hentai.

Dear Diary,

So sorry I have neglected thee for all of 12 days (of Christmas, my true love gave to me…). I have not had anything to drink, therefore this entry will be coherent. But completely off-topic…

Brief Thoughts on Mizuki Nana’s Trickster PV

I was actually going to write this as a reply to my Trickster preview post, but it got too long ;)

So the full PV’s out and I’ve just got around to viewing it myself. Visually, it reminds me of something a Jrock band would do – 9mmPB’s The World was one of the first things that popped into my mind, along with Straightener’s various B&W PVs. I’m sure there are better examples out there.

Trickster’s definitely one of my fave Nana songs now; it’s got an awesome rhythm section – some pretty good drumming in there. And the song also ends with Nana singing a capella – has she ever done that before? Somebody refresh my mind.

And so much for thinking the PV would be underwater, lol. I did enjoy the bits where the water sprayed off the instruments when they hit it (especially the cymbals).

The Discotheque PV looks gayer (and I don’t mean that it in a non-PC kind of way) but it seems pretty fun, camp ’80s disco mode & all. Looking forward to seeing the full versh!

Big Face? Small Face? WTF

Singer Amuro Namie was recently crowned Kogao (small-face) queen. Small face, not small head. What the heck is a small face?

Which Seiyuu’s Got More Than Half a Brain?

Minakami Nao, apparently. The Kagoshima-born, just-turned-twenty lass is the new voice of Puchiko (of Di Gi Charat fame) and happens to be enrolled in Tokyo University aka Todai, the school that oh-so many normal human beings strive for but fail to reach. She’s rumoured to be attached to the science department.
