Normally I don’t give a shit what 2channel thinks or says, but there were some pretty amusing reactions to Minorin’s scheduled appearance at DaiCon this summer so I’m preserving for future reference. So this is the big news people have been waiting for – the special guest for DaiCon 2009 is the one and only Chihara Minori! Official announcement is now up, head on over to the DaiCon site to watch a special intro video from Minorin. Anyone who’s a regular reader of this blog will need no introduction to Minorin, one of the lights of my life and that special person I happen to share a birthday with. Those who don’t – she’s the voice of Nagato Yuki in the Suzumiya Haruhi series and Chiaki in the Minami-ke series, which should be just the info you need. Since her official relaunch on Avex, Chihara has released 5 singles and 2 albums, with another single (Tomorrow’s Chance) on the way in June. In December 2008 she played Taiwan and also appeared as part of the SOS-dan with the rest of the Haruhi girls in Anime Expo in 2007, and this will be her first time setting foot on Malaysian soil. The appearance at DaiCon marks a busy spring/summer period for Minorin, with scheduled live performances at Ga-Rei and Druaga events in May, the single in June, her 2-day open air live SUMMER CAMP in early August and Animelo Summer Live 2009-RE:BRIDGE- later the same month. OMFGMINORINBRAINLOSSOFBLOOD$#%$^&(!@@. Ok, that’s out of the way. To be honest – there’s maybe a shortlist of 5 or 6 seiyuu who if they appeared, would actually convince me to fly all the way to Kuala Lumpur to behave like an absolute arsehole – and Minorin’s one of them. I’m a country bumpkin who hates bright city lights and prefers rabbiting around in my own little village after all :3 So do come along for the fantarding ride in July, the two-day Minorin package (11-12 July) involves an Q&A session on the Saturday and a live set on the Sunday. Anyone planning to attend and needs further info, do feel free to email me at the address on my About page, or get in touch with the DaiCon staff. Links: 1. Get a car (beg, steal, borrow) Previous iterations of MAPLUS or MAPLUS-related products have included the voices of Furuya Tohru, Midorikawa Hikaru, Kugimiya Rie, Wakamoto Norio and Sawashiro Miyuki but this KaneTomo-sensei one really takes the biscuit. If you go to the page where you can hear the sample voices in three flavours, you’ll know straightaway you ain’t gonna end up at your intended destination. Kaneda’s is the second, the one on top is a decent/normal voice navi provided by Minaguchi Yuko (Videl & Pan in Dragon Ball). Listen to them, you know you wanna abuse your ears! Here’s how the three samples go: Now when the hell has a navigation system ever been able to detect/tell you that you’re dozing off again? I guess I plan to do one of these every season just to show what I’m enjoying watching at the moment. 41-year old veteran seiyuu Takimoto Fujiko posted a rather emotional personal message to her fans on her blog yesterday, apologising for her lack of activity and generally lamenting the state of the industry. Takimoto is signed to major agency ARTSVISION and mainly voices teenage male characters (she has a suitably husky voice) – some of her credits include the lead/major roles of Misato Suguru in the Mahoromatic series, Ninomiya Ryo in KonoMini (This Ugly & Beautiful World), Enomoto Chihiro in the Kujibiki Unbalance TV anime and Goto Yu in Noein. In her post, Takimoto apologises for not having any work in the current spring season, mentioning how hard it is to get roles as the situation is such that only ‘junior seiyuu, newcomers and best-selling idol seiyuu get employed’, and ponders that ‘it will be hard for me to get back in the anime business (at this rate)’. She thanks her fans for all their support up to this point despite not getting any work, and is grateful that she has actually had more than 10 lead roles in her career thus far although ‘whether I get any more such work is something only God knows’. Takimoto says she’s still doing small bits of work ‘where I can’t actually be seen or heard’ and is more or less praying to God for a miracle to revive her career. Her last major role came in 2007’s BUZZER BEATER. Oh lordy, I’m not a Takimoto fan but I do feel sorry for her. It’s understandable how the older seiyuu get shoved out in favour of the younger ones – there’s so many others who cover the same sort of ground that Takimoto does (ie. Shiraishi Ryoko, Kobayashi Yu etc), maybe not better, but certainly possessing more promo/marketable potential than Fujiko-san does. Hard to say if she’ll ever rise again, but I hope that things turn out alright for her. Um yeah. Basically this picture is giving certain people nightmares so I thought I’d throw it out here to see how many more I can scare. 相思相愛ラブトーク (snort). Um yeah, it means ‘mutual love talk’. I’m not a huge fan of Yukana anyway, but this picture… I just burst out with laughter. It’s like the Grim Reaper coming to take Nana’s soul away xD In a surprising career change, 16-year old magazine model Teramoto Yukika (寺本 來可) left her agency Ever Green Entertainment in early April for I’m Enterprise, the seiyuu agency home to the likes of Kugimiya Rie, Nakahara Mai & Tamura Yukari. The teenager’s modelling career began in 2006 after being one of the 6 Grand Prix prize winners in junior fashion magazine nicola’s 10th Model Audition, which attracted a total of 5,986 applicants (previous winners include Aragaki Yui and Okamoto Rei). |
