The only placing in the awards that doesn't surprise me, really, is Nakajima Megumi. The others, well...

Like most people I've been rooting for Nakamura for best male for this year's awards. After all, if I'm not mistaken he <em>was</em> the active male seiyuu in 2008. Why in the world has he not won it yet?! Nikumura has long been due for some serious attention. Stupid corporate bigwigs...

I voted for Sugita for the overseas award this year (you gotta love his hilarious voice), so I'm glad he at least won best supporting male.

Ah... Politics. It all happens anywhere. Even in so-called 'fair' awards. =D

But I guess this is all some kind of joke. We have our individual eternal winners in our hearts (SCREAM HER NAME OUT IN UR HEART FANBOYS!), that I guess would suffice.

Giving awards, prizes... Well, public recognition. Guess that's all. :)

One of the reasons I don't get worked up over these things, one way or the other. These awards have yet to prove to me they are more than another cross-promotional opportunity, or a reason for studios and the big anime houses to throw a party and 'pat yourself on yourselves backs' in self-congratulations.

I'm happy to see Sugita be recognized for anything (aside his weirdness), but I'm with you that Nakamura has been blazing hot the last two years and to not hear a peep about him makes it hard to take these seriously. That, and of course calling these seiyuu awards, but ignoring a good half or more of the opportunities for seiyuu work, such as cds, games, narrations, dubs, etc. These are anime popularity awards, any way you look at it.

@Nis & Taka
These awards are arbitrary, they never mention what specific role they win for so Kugimiya for best female is just a piss-take. She should've gotten it last year, not this. Miharu in Nabari... no way. The anime sunk without a trace, and Kugyu's performance was forgettable.

@dodgethis
Nah, best personality rewards radio & TV presenting not anime work so FukuJun's Leopard doesn't really come into the equation, I was just having a laugh about it. Besides, SoraKake is a 2009 anime and the voting window was between (I think) September-December.

@Dav
Character gender doesn't matter, I think they explicitly mention that on the website. Example - Saiga Mitsuki won last year, and she only ever voices guys.

@Hikari
Yeah well, I'm sure they wanted to award Endo somehow and with Kugyu having a best supporting gong already they pushed her up to best lead, leaving Aya with either best supporting or best new female and the choice was obvious. I wanted Megu to win too but... yeah.

As for overseas category... I voted for Kaneda Tomoko FFS, so I genuinely do not care who wins.

Yay for Sawashiro, Sugita and Inoue. I'm generally happy with the winners this year but... WTF? Endo Aya as "supporting actress"? Maybe it's for Lucky Star, not Macross. I really wanted Toyoguchi Megumi to get an award for Klan Klan but if Sheryl is considered a supporting character then Klan Klan is a nobody.

I wonder when the overseas category winner will be announced... I'll seriously RAGE if it's Hirano Aya. Please, please, let it be someone who has talent (and more than only 2 good roles)

Hur, I'm glad Inoue, Sawashiro and Tomatsu bagged awards. I was rooting for either Hayami or KitaEri for the best singer <strike>because I'm a biased whore when it comes to their voices</strike>, but Nakajima did a great job in performing Macross' songs anyway. Time to look forward to Basquash!, I guess.

Meh, I wanted Yukarin to win best personality. Nearly 6 years on of Kuro Usagi and still no award? ==

Btw, Taka's comment got me a bit curious. Does a character's gender matter when it comes to nominating a seiyuu for a particular category? I think it mostly applies to female VAs doing male roles (I've yet to see a male VA doing female roles). Just a useless question from moi. ^^

This might be a longshot but maybe Kugyu won for Miharu lead in Nabari no Ou. I didn't watch enough of it but that's the only thing I would think that is radically different from previous roles. If that's the case though she totally robbed it from the best female seiyuu voicing a young emo boy of the year, Miyuki Sawashiro for Kure-nai.

Does anyone have a date when the voting closed? I will laugh if it closed before Soaring Cake aired and Jun won it for Leopard.
