Anime & Seiyuu News

Ichigo Mashimaro encore is the official name of the new OVA series. Opening theme Ichigo Splash (苺すぷらっしゅ) will be sung by the five main seiyuu, and the ending Zutto, Zutto (ずっと、ずっと) by Orikasa Fumiko again. CD with the two songs goes on sale Christmas day. OVA DVD release date is still not determined. Some character art can be seen at the Dengeki Moeoh blog.

The Maria Holic anime cast has been confirmed on the Comic Alive blog. If Sawashiro Miyuki is really added to the line-up to join Kobayashi Yu, Sanada Asami & Inoue Marina then we’ll have a mini Zetsubo-girls reunion.

Talking about Zetsubo-girls, a collaboration album with Ohtsuki Kenji will be released on 10th December. Rearranged versions of Hito Toshite Jiko ga Bureteiru & Kuso Rumba will be included along with 10 other as-yet-untitled songs. Album to be produced by NARASAKI of COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS & Sadesper Record fame.

It has been revealed that the role of Fuyuki in Keroro Gunso had been taken on by Kuwashima Houko after original seiyuu Kawakami Tomoko underwent surgery for an unspecified ailment in late August. It is not clear when the episode in question was recorded and whether the change will be temporary or permanent. There is no mention of it on Kawakami’s latest news bulletin, which does list a role in the currently airing shonen show Battle Spirits so one can only imagine that she’ll only be gone for a week or two.

A bit old, but Mizuki Nana is going to appear on the FRESH FIGHTER segment of the 10th October edition of NTV’s MUSIC FIGHTER programme. Which amuses me, since FRESH FIGHTER is supposed to be introducing indies-label acts or pre/post debut artists. MUSIC FIGHTER is one of the smaller music shows, lower in popularity than Music Station, HEY!x3 & Utaban.

This coming October is a serious seiyuu idol assault month, with major releases almost every week:
01 October – Mizuki Nana’s Trickster
08 October – Hirano Aya’s NAMIDA NAMIDA NAMIDA
22 October – Horie Yui’s Vanilla Salt
29 October – Sakamoto Maaya’s Ame ga Furu
& 5 November – Chihara Minori’s yet-to-be-titled single

Amusingly, Kato Emiri is releasing a solo music album. WTF. Sorry, I’m a bit underwhelmed by seiyuu singers recently thanks to Fujita Saki’s fantastically abominable Crystal Quartz. Kato (who voices Kagamin in Lucky Star) will see her CD drop in shops on 17th December.

Kannagi Radio #4 is now up. They played the full version of Tomatsu Haruka’s Shiawase Sagashi, the c/w song to opening theme Motto Hade ni ne. Singing is still somewhat 微妙 (not great) but I like the song. Definitely buying the single now.

A 19-year old guy has been arrested for allegedly threatening to stab an unidentified 27-year old female seiyuu. So take your pick from the long list of possibilities – Chihara Minori, Saito Chiwa, Ito Shizuka, Nonaka Ai, Yamamoto Maria, Nakahara Mai, Sato Rina, Shimizu Ai, Shintani Ryoko or Ochiai Yurika.

Some people are bemused by Saito Chiwa’s image change (dyed hair, more idol-like styling). Guess that’s what she’s been doing these past few months. Chiwa’s also started hosting a radio show to promote Square Enix’s GFantasy magazine and its related titles, which airs on Animate.tv.

Shiina Ringo has designed some shirts for Uniqlo. Gawd, they’re awful.

The global economy seems to be in a bit of a shambles at the moment. I turned down a job offer from an investment bank exactly a year ago before I accepted my current position. 私エスパーです。
