Anime Music Pt.3 - My 10 Favourite Seiyuu Singers
…..or should that be singing seiyuu? Whatever.
This is my own top 10 - so it’s obviously biased. It’s based on seiyuu whose songs I like listening to and not necessarily the ten technically best vocalists around. Cos if it was, the list might be completely different.
What makes a good seiyuu singer? Obviously, the first thing is singing ability. And much like voice acting, I like versatility in singing. Oh, and having songs that sound nice are an advantage too - I think my No.13 choice can perhaps outsing some of the top 10, but I kicked her out of the list cos her songs suck. So it’s a combination of good voice + good songs + a bit of versatility. It’s not necessary that they be succesful seiyuu idols really, but being in the public eye a lot certainly improves my perception of certain people.
On to the list! And yes, it’s in order of preference.
Top 10
01.Mizuki Nana

Nana needs no introduction - unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last 3 years or have a complete apathy for all Japanese music. So for the unacquainted, Mizuki Nana is the biggest seiyuu idol at this moment - she possesses the most powerful voice in anime music, is only the second seiyuu to hold a concert at the Budokan (after Shiina Hekiru), has the highest selling seiyuu single of the year so far (let’s forget Lucky Star exists), & considers Noto Mamiko one of her closest friends. Maybe the last point wasn’t that useful but…..yeah, I’m a Nana fangirl, I think she’s the best seiyuu singer around and I’m prepared to fight anyone who thinks otherwise.
Favourite Nana song: PROTECTION
Watch: Hime Murasaki live
02.Sakamoto Maaya

I don’t think there’d ever be any doubt that Maaya would be on this - I’m sure she’d top most people’s lists in fact. Maaya has one of the best voices, not just in the seiyuu world but in the Japanese music scene, period. Maybe a few (OK, most) people miss her older works with mentor Kanno Yoko but I’m personally glad that she’s moved on, giving her a chance to work with a pretty diverse and well-known bunch of Jpop songwriters like Nakatsuka Takeshi (of Qypthone), Yamada Toshiaki (from GOMES THE HITMAN) and h-wonder. I guess I’m one of the few people who loved the very mainstream Yuunagi Loop ^^; And anyone who thinks Maaya sounds bad without Kanno should go listen to AKINO’s sibling harmony group bless4.
Favourite Maaya song: cloud 9
Watch: No Feat/Aisuru Koto live
03.Nanri Yuuka

I first heard Yuuka through her image song Futatsu no Kokoro wa from Memories Off but she didn’t leave much of an impression on me. Then I heard Akatsuki no Kuruma and was completely blown away. tiaraway was what really made me fall in love with Nanri(etta) though, and of course FictionJunction YUUKA only made me appreciate how good her voice is more….. sigh. It always amazes/amuses me how such a strong, distinct vocal can come out from a person who normally speaks with a whisper-like lisp. i.e. Yuuka thalks like dith mowth of dha thime.. I’m also a big fan of her voice work, & I’m going to go sulk in the corner if Yuuka’s not coming back for the Gunslinger Girl sequel.
Favourite Yuuka song: FLY AWAY
And I can’t talk about Nanri Yuuka without mentioning………
04.Chiba Saeko

Have I ever said how much I used to love Chiba Saeko? I say used to, because much of the love has faded away with the deaths of tiaraway, her solo singing career and her long hair ^^; The solo career was good while it lasted, and together with producer Kajiura Sae produced some of the most memorable anime themes in recent times (Ice Cream, Hikari, Sayonara Solitia). Sadly, with her focus strictly on voice work all I can do is listen to everything and TWO:LEAF on repeat and weep. Still, the legacy of my former love for Saeko is that she’ll be stuck at No.3 on my Last.fm artist charts for a long, long time…..
Favourite Sae song: BREATH
Watch: TWO:LEAF live (tiaraway)
05.Takahashi Naozumi

The only guy on the list, and he’s here on merit & not just cos I feel sorry for the male species ^^; Naozumi writes his own songs, sells quite a few CDs and live DVDs and is regularly featured in seiyuu mags like hm3. His songs may not appeal to a lot of people, and he may look and sound rather gay but singing prowess is undeniable, especially live. I’d go out on a limb and say that he’s almost as good as Mizuki Nana live.
Famously, during one of Takahashi’s live shows he somehow managed to injure his eye via a potent mix of sweat & hairspray, forcing him to wear an eyepatch for the rest of the tour. I found the incident rather amusing myself, though I guess it probably wasn’t so funny for him at the time - he thought he was going blind & still had to continue rehearsing and performing. Life’s tough for a pretty boy male seiyuu idol….
Favourite Nao song: ~kiss you~ (M + M set mix)
Watch: Nagori Yuki & Kaeri no Izumi live
06.Iwao Junko

OK so Iwao is one of my top 10 favourite seiyuu not only for the fact that she’s a good voice actress but also because she’s a brilliant singer. I’m sure many people fell in love with Junko’s angelic voice (as Tomoyo) in Cardcaptor Sakura but she doesn’t only excel at singing in a kids’ voice - she’s equally at home with more mature material like Scarlet (from Ayashi no Ceres) and most of her Favorite Songs album. Iwao’s not been too active over the last 4-5 years but maybe now her divorce from producer Yamamoto Harukichi might mean that she pursues her music career more agressively. I can only live in hope….
Favourite Junko song: Buranko Oritara
Watch: Tsubasa ni nare live (requires Niconico registration)
07.Kasahara Hiroko

A name that is probably lost on people whose anime viewing doesn’t extend as far back as the mid-90s. Kasahara is very much of veteran in the industry having made her seiyuu debut in 1983 in Vifam as Kachua when she was just 13 years old (and I was -1 years old). She then started releasing CDs when she was 18 and has amassed 30+ singles and 40+ albums over the last 20 years. Some might say that Hiroko’s songs are boring, but it’s her voice that makes them come alive. It may not be as powerful as Mizuki Nana’s or as distinct as Nanri Yuuka’s, but it’s clear and very melodious - I love listening to her songs to relax.
Favourite Hiroko song: Sayonara ga Kureta no wa
Watch: Sora e… live
08.Minagawa Junko

For a while I never really thought that Office Lady-turned-seiyuu Minagawa Junko was anything more than an average singer with an average voice (based on hearing the Echizen Ryoma songs). Then I picked up some of her solo albums and was impressed by what I heard. MinaJun can pull off a range of styles ranging from r’n'b and dance to rock and slow numbers, her newest album Vitamin J is good proof of that. And of course, her live performances - Minagawa sounds just as good on the stage as she does on record. She put most of her Negima castmates to shame with her flawless singing in both festivals, and also brought life to some pretty dire songs in the Sakura Taisen V musicals. Off topic, but I still wonder how old she really is ^^;;
Favourite Junko song: Sign
Watch: Eien no Toki o Koete live Sakura Taisen V revue group finale (requires Niconico registration)
09.Yokoyama Chisa

Maybe the name rings few bells for anyone under the age of 20, but for many Yokoyama Chisa is a legend as she voiced two iconic characters in Tenchi Muyo’s Sasami and Sakura Taisen’s Shinguji Sakura. Like Iwao Junko, Yokoyama can do both cute and mature with ease; and is a strong live performer thanks to her many Sakura Taisen musical performances. It’s too bad she’s not released anything of note in a decade or so, or she’d be a lot higher up this list.
Favourite Chisa song: Gin no Harp
Watch: live at Sakura Cafe
10.Horie Yui

And last on the list is the evergreen Horie Yui. Granted, she’s not the most versatile of singers around - her version of For Fruits Basket still makes me feel ill but she’s good at what she does, and that’s singing cute pop songs in a cute way and wearing cute clothes (on stage) that someone of her age really shouldn’t be. Also, she’s got a massive back catalogue of instantly recognisable anime songs from Tsubasa to be for you, be for me to It’s my style that keep her constantly on my playlists. And her ears are smaller than Tamura Yukari’s.
Favourite Yui song: Koi no etude
Watch: Love Destiny live
Just missed the boat:
11. Tamura Yukari - Listen: Hanbun
12. Tange Sakura - Listen: Sora to Kaze to Kimi to Boku
13. Orikasa Fumiko - Listen: Samishii mama de..
14. Saiga Mitsuki - Listen: Shizuku Hitohira
15. Takahashi Mikako - Listen: Negai no Toki
Four young ‘uns knocking on the door…
Miyano Mamoru

Miyano has yet to release a single of his own that’s not tied in to an anime or radio show - I don’t think he’s even got a record deal. But Mamo’s got one of the bestest singing voices around, male or female. He just needs more chances to show it off. Hopefully when (if) I revise this list in 5 years’ time he’ll be somewhere near number one.
Favourite Mamo song: Guren no Tsuki
Watch: Tip-Top Shape live
Chihara Minori

I prefer Minorin to Hirano Aya a little more because her voice is stronger and technically better. Admittedly her seiyuu debut in Tenjo Tenge (Soichiro-sama!Soichiro-sama! $%^%$&) filled me with so much hatred that I refused to watch anymore of the show, but after hearing some of the songs she did for the OVA I was prepared to give her another chance. Purchased her HEROINE album, and the rest I guess, is history. Being in Haruhi has elevated her fame to higher levels and perhaps Lantis see her (& Aya) as the answer to King Records’ queen Mizuki Nana.
Favourite Minori song: Konayuki~long distance~
Watch: Yuki, Muon, Madobe nite live
Suzuki Tatsuhisa

Suzuki’s one of the more promising upcoming male seiyuu idols. Tatsu’s a real livewire on stage, a bit like an Energizer bunny, jumping around and gesticulating madly. Or maybe he’s had too many magic mushrooms….. He’s still a little inexperienced sometimes but having worked with Takahashi Naozumi for a while he should’ve picked up a few tips. And Tatsu’s also really cute, which is a plus point when you consider how ugly most seiyuu are ^^;;;
Favourite Tatsu song: towayuki
Watch: Crawl live
Hirano Aya

Even if I slagged off her new single LOVE★GUN, I am still a fan of Hirano Aya’s voice. Her singing voice, that is - I’ll refrain from talking about her seiyuu work. Personally, I think slower songs fit her better; stuff like Futari no Imi (Eyeshield 21), Hikari no Umi (Kiddy Grade) and Shiawase no Wakka (Manabi Straight) all showcase her talents perfectly. Hirano tends to be less consistent on faster songs, ranging from brilliant on Futsuu no Koi~Hashire Iincho!~ (Sumomoetc) to shaky on Yume Panorama Wide (Manabi Straight). Also, I’m not totally convinced by what I’ve heard of her on live videos though I partly blame that on nerves and partly on her heavy workload. Anyway, looking forward to hearing more of Aya in future and hopefully she’ll build a long and lasting singing career.
Favourite Aya song: Doushite…
Watch: Bouken desho desho live
Two seiyuu who should be bound, gagged and tied up, never to be let near a mic ever again.
Kawasumi Ayako & Noto Mamiko

Now, I respect both of them greatly for their voice work but I am always at a loss for words when trying to describe what I think of their singing skills. Here’s a attempt - on the Annoying Scale, listening to either of them warbling rates somewhere between a drunk Kaneda Tomoko shrieking at the top of her lungs (5.1) and a cackling witch scraping a chalkboard with all 10 of her 20-inch long fingernails (9.8).
At least Kawasumi has gotten better, on record. Her live singing is a completely different beast, everytime the singing segment came up on Marunabi I had to turn the volume down. And the less said about Noto Mamiko’s singing, the better. When I first heard the version of Scoop! below I nearly lost my will to live. Just…. don’t inflict anymore pain on the public, please?
Listen (and die): Scoop!

Very nice list. Agree with everything you wrote about Mizuki Nana, and I’m with you on the “I think she’s the best seiyuu singer around and I’m prepared to fight anyone who thinks otherwise” part. Nice pick with Iwao Junko too. She’s someone I used to listen to a lot in the past, but haven’t been recently, though now I want to go dig up some of those songs.
I might add Nonaka Ai to the “seiyuu who should be bound, gagged and tied up, never to be let near a mic ever again” list, but she has a few songs that I like. I probably would have added Inoue Marina to the “young ‘uns” list as well. I haven’t heard too much from her, but what I have heard I like.
October 12th, 2007 at 2:11 am
I hate almost all seiyuu songs. Life is like enzymes, everyone has their own specificity. Actors act best, seiyuu do voice work best and singers sing best. Maybe the occasional God Knows or insert song is OK, but I always prefer OPs and EDs by actual singers.
October 12th, 2007 at 3:03 am
I agree that only a few seiyuu can actually really sing… that’s why I love them ~
They should stop doing Character song with seiyuu that can’t sing… -__-;
BTW : “j1m0ne is a lousy old pirate.” in Chihara Minori - Konayuki.mp3 ID3 comment…
LOL ! XD

A pretty good list. Even though I personally do not care for a few of them, I cannot objectively dispute that anyone in your top 10 are not good singers, okay except Horie Yui, which I think Tamura Yukari should nudge her off due to Yukarin being more versitle and a much better live performer to boot.
Takahashi Naozumi floors me at Animelo, he’s definitely not a fluke and he is a consistent performer. Though he is definitely a bit gay (well he knows who he is selling to, so *shrug*), which is the bit that stops me from actually listening to his stuff.
I don’t like Kasahara Hirko, her stuff puts me to sleep, back 10 or so years ago when it comes to awesome ballad seiyuu singers it was either her or Iwao Junko and I choosed to be on the Junko boat. But nevertheless I do have to admit she can sing.
tiaraway would probably remain THE best seiyuu band/unit to have graced the seiyuu industry, ever (okay that’s not saying much but still). I still kick myself for not taking the days off work to go to their first and last concert. And god do I miss Chiba Saeko…. T_T
The Sakura Taisen cast has some really awesome singers, it’s kinda hard for me to pick one actually. But overall I say the ST5 cast is the best skilled of the lot (which includes Minagawa Junko), and that’s saying something. It’s really too bad that the music was actually what killed ST5, it’s such a waste of the cast they assembled.
October 12th, 2007 at 6:12 am
Thanks for this. I know too few of them. I do prefer Yukarin to Hocchan, however. I really don’t get Mizuki Nana: she’s very skillful, but her singing bores me. Maybe it has to do with genre.
As for Hirano Aya, I used to agree about slow/fast, but Love Gun has me convinced that she’s onto something. However, my favorites may still be the character songs from Manabi Straight; First Goodbye from the SHnY drama CD; and the jazzy character song from the third Sumomomo character CD. She still has a lot of work to do, but she seems to me to be constantly improving. As with her seiyuu work, however, she brings something unique to most of what she does, something that doesn’t depend on ordinary skill, but partakes of art, in my opinion. Of course, I prefer garage bands to standard pros, too, so others’ mileage may certainly vary.

Any “top 10 list” post seems to draw instant blog comments. I like most of this list, though I’m more of a moe voice fan.
I have to say I like Chihara Minori’s Hare Hare Yukai the best, because its so much stronger.
Also I expected you to mention Sakakibara Yui somewhere.
My favorite songs from your picks:
Mizuki Nana - Innocent Starter
Sakamoto Maaya - doreddo 39
Saeko Chiba - Futsu wa dono ko? (Chika voice FTW)
Kasahara Hiroko - Edi no kuni
Horie Yui - Koi gokoro
Tamura Yukari - Sweetest Love
Also I want to mention Kuribayashi Minami and Takahashi Chiaki, as personal favorites, and the song they did, Blue Tears.
October 12th, 2007 at 10:39 am
I must be the only person here that bought Hayashibara CDs
Or it feels like it.
October 12th, 2007 at 10:43 am
Yay, our tastes coincide! Is it because these are mainstreamy?
Didn’t know Iwao Junko got divorced. Oh well. Love her voice.
Nana-chan’s still a better singer than seiyuu, but at least she’s trying.
That: “And her ears are smaller than Tamura Yukari’s” cracked me up.
October 12th, 2007 at 10:43 am
And, oh, Akino without Bless4 is just a pop group. With Kanno she’s actually an instrument for a song that transcends her mere singing ability.
I’m fine with Maaya splitting–about time, I say. But it’s just not the same. Apples and oranges. Naturally tons of people who loved Maaya’s music will find her music sorely lacking of what they loved from before.
October 12th, 2007 at 11:06 am
I wouldn’t say it as strongly as tj han, but I’ve go to admit I am often surprised by the excellence of comparatively unknown singers who come in to do anime OPEDs. On Hitohira, for example. “Life is like enzymes, everyone has their own specificity.” The one new seiyuu singer that totally blew me away was Hayami Saori doing the ED to Touka Gettan.
October 12th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
> tj han
It’s true that 95% of seiyuu cannot sing to save their lives, but a bit of digging will reveal those gems. Then again, there’s also ‘actual singers’ who have me reaching for the mute button everytime (ALI PROJECT, Funta, ICHIKO). Guess one man’s meat is another man’s poison.
> piyo
For some reason it never register with me that Sakakibara Yui is a seiyuu. Not playing eroge probably has something to do with that ^^;
>Yukarin over Yui
Yeah, I do think Yukarin can sing better than Hocchan. What sways it for me is her songs I guess, since Yukarin has a lot of dreadful stuff that I can’t bear listening to (Traveling With a Sheep, Sparkle with delight)
>houkoholic
Agreed, ST5 has the worst, most effing boring songs in the whole series. Really a shame, since Sanae, Kaya & co. are really good. And Saito Ayaka too which kinda surprised me, since my only memory of her was as Momiji in Furuba singing that annoying ‘Teru Teru Momiji’ song ^^;
> omo
I guess I was having a dig at ppl who are still lamenting that Maaya sucks without Kanno. She’s moved on, so they should too.
And Meg Hayashibara, I thought long & hard about it whilst listening to some of her albums and I realised - I didn’t actually like a lot of her songs ^^; She is in my top 20 though, purely for her singing ability.
For the curious, the other 4 who round off the 20 are Kouda Mariko, Kuwashima Houko, Shiina Hekiru and Iizuka Mayumi.
October 12th, 2007 at 2:59 pm
Well, if you bag and gag Ayako and Mamiko…sent them this way…
>omo
I bought Megumi CDs as well, from Shamrock to Feel Well. Then I just stop buying them.
October 13th, 2007 at 3:16 pm
I’m not surprised Mizuki topped the chart. She IS the best, anyway.
It’s funny, I actually like Sakamoto w/o Kanno (or maybe I just like her newer album too much).
Aaya’s next single (Neophilia) seems to be slower than Love Gun, so there is hope.
October 13th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Hmm…. I’m rather surprised that Yukarin did not make it to the list. She had, after all, worked just as long as Ho-chan.
Perhaps its just a matter of preference. Some would prefer Ho-chan’s sparkling bell-like sound, some prefer Yukarin’s sugary voice.
At the very least, both of them are on par.
October 14th, 2007 at 10:54 am
Whoohoo! Mamo got an honourable mention! And yes, if he gets a record deal I will invest in everything he puts out. =D
And you made my day by letting me know that bless4 has a Youtube account! WHOA.
November 27th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
Yay, it’s great to know there’s another Mizuki Nana fan out there - since most of my friends who are into anime either dislike her or have never heard of her. I agree with you on Hirano Aya and Chihara Minori and I’m also a fan of Horie Yui and Tamura Yukari - I lol’d at the ears part. My sister used to complain that her own ears were too big, and shut up promptly after I showed her a video of Yukarin singing live, haha.
And Kawasumi Ayako IS impressive, seiyuu wise. First she’s Saber in Fate/Stay Night, then she gets all girly as Kazumi in Shana…I was like…whoa, how does that work?
I do have to disagree with you on one thing though. About that song, “Scoop” - I personally don’t think it’s that bad. Kawasumi’s voice was more on pitch than her live version of Kaerimichi. And I do somewhat like Noto-san’s voice. My only gripe is that the song is too bland. I can stand boring bad mellow songs a lot easier than annoying high pitched belts - like some of Momoi Haruko’s songs. *cringe*
November 27th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
> evilevilevil
I’m sure there’s tons of Nana fans around. I know quite a few anime music haters who eventhough they don’t like her style, acknowledge that Nana can really sing.
*shrug* Nothing will make me like Ayako or Mamiko’s singing - pitch/key/breathing problems etc etc. At least Momoi’s in tune & her lives are always spot on, even if her high pitched-voice gives me a headache ^_^
February 24th, 2008 at 3:24 am
I came back to this post again, and I realized you listed Saiga Mitsuki
Do you have any of her voice roles to recommend? I loved her performance as Wolfram in Kyou Kara Maou and although I did plan to watch Jing: King of Bandits to listen to her, the series overall doesn’t appeal to me.
Speaking of Saiga, I always thought her voice has slight similarities to Paku Romi’s. I find female seiyuus who can do a really male voice interesting to listen to, especially singing.
September 14th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
I’m checking out this post because I liked looking at it a few months ago in order to give myself in introduction to J-pop. And I think the list is good, although I am a big fan of Hocchan, Yukarin and Ueda Kana-sama ever since Kashimashi came out, so I would have liked to see them higher on the list, but then, I noticed something on the list.
You put 1-2 guys on the list, and then you say “they’re here on merit, not because I feel sorry for the male species.” You also whimsically say “This guy’s cute, although most seiyuu are ugly ^_^”
Excuse me? As innocent as your comments may be, I can’t help, being an armchair MRA as well as anime/seiyuu fan, detect a little bit of enmity for guys in your speech. Why the term “species”? Are you implying that we’re a different kind of animal? While, logically, I know you’re being cute, and different species does not necessarily imply lower species, I can’t help but feel that there is a little bit of feminist spite in that statement. I make that assumption because, being from the West, most women, when saying that, would be implying “lower species.” I guess cause the average male isn’t cute and cuddly and doting and cloying enough to appreciate J-pop (although this male likes it, but it’s not his only music preference, as I’ll get to in a moment), that makes him a different species, that needs to be approached with trepidation, for fear of upsetting him since he has a different culture that may be opposed to your culture. That is definitely implied by the fact that you say that “most seiyuu are ugly” whimsically in addressing another male singer, which still subliminally reinforces the stereotype that guys are aggressive jerks that aren’t cute and cuddly enough for girls….
Let me phrase my point better. If you had Romi Paku-san on the list (she was just mentioned by the way), and said “Here’s the only Korean on my list, and she’s here on merit, and not ‘cos I feel sorry for the Korean species.” (Paku-san is half-Korean, from what I ascertain), I, while not judging you wholeheartedly, because I do not know you personally and thus can not jump to conclusions irrationally, would consider this a borderline racist comment. Thus, I consider the comments you made about Takahashi Naozumi-san and Suzuki Tatsuhisa-san borderline Sexist. Now, I’m not fully condemning you as sexist, because I don’t know you, and you’re probably not and were just being cute in your comments (as evidenced by the emoticons), but if you really have respect for men, I would show the same respect in speech as you would for other races. In short, some of us men actually DO give a sh&t, and don’t appreciate yours (and a lot of womens) denigrating, and to be quite honest, uncreative and pathetic sense of gender humor. Ultimately, the lack of creativity shows this brand of humor to be really just more solipsistic (look it up ^_^…. see I just patronized you. How do you feel?) than creatively sarcastic. If you’re gonna be demeaning, at least make it creative, otherwise, leave it to pros like Lisa Lampanelli. Thank you. I’m sorry if this is offensive, but I found these comments offensive, and my argument logical, so I figured I’d present it.
And for the record, We men don’t need you to feel sorry for our species. I also listen to hard rock/heavy metal in addition to J-pop. And trust me, there are plenty of men. There are probably plenty of men in J-rock as well. Try Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Uriah Heep, UFO, Free, Golden Earring, Blind Guardian, Helloween, Sonata Arctica, Opeth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Megadeth, Symphony X, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Fates Warning, Iced Earth, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jimi Hendrix….. I think I’ve made my point. Indeed, there is more to the world than J-pop. And closer to home, try X Japan, Malice Mizer, Blood Stain Child, Luna Sea and even Dir en Grey. These bands, trust me, are more than just distorted noise. They can be quite sophisticated. You may not like how hard some of these bands are, but you have to give at least SOME musical credit to these male groups. I guess the male “species” is making SOME headway in music, no? I guess I took your comments too seriously, but I figured while I had the soapbox, I’d introduce observers to some of the world outside of Anime/Seiyuu/J-pop. Itterashai!
September 14th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
P.S. On an innocent note, try Blind Guardian’s “The Maiden and the Minstrel Knight” and Iron Maiden’s “Blood Brothers.” As a seiyuu fan, you may be pleasantly surprised by those heavy metal songs! Let’s not kid ourselves, though, for not all metal is like that….
September 14th, 2008 at 2:12 pm
… …. Sexist?
…All I’m implying by the ’species’ thing is the fact that 98.79567% of male seiyuu are terrible singers. And that is something that is impossible to deny *shrug* Either you’re reading into stuff too much, or my English really is that bad. And the ‘I know you’re being cute’ remark made me spit my cocoa over my keyboard. Thank you, that’s the first time anyone’s ever called me ‘cute’ in my near-quarter of a century time spent on this planet.
Anyway, I’m honoured that you’ve actually put much thought into your comments, but I’ll pass on your recommendations, thanks very much. I’m a folk/bluegrass/acoustic fan at heart - think Sufjan Stevens, Nickelcreek, Kings of Convenience & Seth Lakeman, so if you’ve any other acts to introduce that are in those vein, I’d gladly listen.
Plus if you’ve been reading my blog for any longer than one year, you’d maybe know that I’m a massive J-indie fan with ANATAKIKOU, Gentouki, The Miceteeth, the ARROWS and VELTPUNCH (all male bands, wooh!) CDs sitting pretty in my collection. Please don’t look down on us seiyuu fans thinking that we all have dreadful taste in music and only listen to Morning Musume or something. Cheers.
…Why I even feel the need to explain/defend myself, I don’t know.
September 16th, 2008 at 12:25 am
[...] Apparently, I am sexist/feminist. YES, YES, YES, I hate men and you should all cut off your ****s with a breadknife. Did you not see me burning bras on TV back in the 60s? I love getting flamed… and so do others, it seems. But I don’t get enough of them, I probably need to write more retarded posts saying that Shugo Chara is shit and Sasuke is gay or something. I am a disgusting otaku Somebody nice on 2channel has labelled me a ‘kimo-ota’ (Refer to Inoue Marina thread part 31), excellent! I am honoured to be elevated to their level of sadness. [...]
