Big Face? Small Face? WTF
Singer Amuro Namie was recently crowned Kogao (small-face) queen. Small face, not small head. What the heck is a small face?
This article apparently tells me that:
“Someone who is seen as having a small face may have features such as large eyes, a small chin and not much space around the mouth. The kogao look also requires some depth and dimension in the features so the face doesn’t appear broad and flat.”
That’s like, really helpful. Makes a lot of sense to me -_- I decided to look at some of the supposed exponents of kogao to try to make sense of it all.
I can sort of tell that Konishi Manami has a small face… I’m too busy looking at her eyes. Gosh, those eyes.

All I can see is narrow faces & noses and thin lips so far >_> Is that it then? I’m guessing someone like Thelma Aoyama (below) ain’t got the kogal look? Does large/round head = big face?

You know what’s coming next. Which seiyuu’s got a teeny-weeny/big-fat face? The first image that immediately popped into my mind was…

But hang on… doesn’t Orikasa just have an extremely small head rather than a small face?
Kimura Madoka and Toyoguchi Megumi were other names that came to mind. Though I’m having a few doubts over Madoka as her face is a bit broad and Megu because er… once she opens her mouth and you see her teeth you won’t even remember the size of her face anymore. I was thinking maybe Kugimiya Rie would fit into the kogao category, but her face looks flatter than a pancake…
Maybe Kato Emiri or Koshimizu Ami? They seem to be proportioned pretty OK. Although Koshimizu is still called horse face (umagao) more often than not… Sigh, it’s easier to tell who has big faces (dekagao) really.
Everything about Iizuka Mayumi (left) is big - her nose, her eyes, her teeth, her head. And her brain presumably, judging by the fact that she’s a law graduate… Kanda Akemi (right) just has a face rounder than a mooncake. Her cheeks must be nice to pinch…
Nabatame Hitomi & Ito Shizuka not only share the same taste for boob-grabbing yuri antics, they have the same sort of face shape; they both look like they have mumps -_-;; Maybe the photos are at bad angles or something. But I guess having a large face isn’t something you can hide under ten layers of make-up.
Minorin wonders if she has a Kogao or a Dekagao
At the end of the day… big face, small face, who cares. If everyone’s face looked like Minorin’s my life would be complete anyway.
P.S. When I start conjuring up posts consisting of 90% pictures and 10% text, it means that Real Life is biting me in the arse again.

LOL!!! I almost laughed out loud @ your Toyoguchi Megumi comment… because it’s so TRUE! Mind you, I’m reading this in class, and I almost embarrassed myself in front of a class of over 200 students. Once again, j1m0ne, you totally make my day. XD
And yes… if everyone’s face looked like minorin’s… our eyes would be constantly in bliss. XD

LOL. This whole big/small face thing reminded me of a pic inside my old CD.. here’s a quick scan: compare (wait, Hocchan’s nose is not that small..) And if this is not fat, I mean, big, I don’t know what is. Also Momoi, Ai-pon.. sigh, if only I hadn’t lost my HDD.
Anyway, I’d still turn yuri for any of them.. XD

@j1m0ne: It looks weirder in 1280 x 800 lmao. But yes Konishi Manami’s eyes….it’s so…I don’t know how to describe them…I first noticed her in the j-drama “Hotman”. That’s basically all I can remember from that 2003 show. Her eyes. Kinda disappoints me the fact that she doesn’t reprise her role in “Hotman 2″.
And do tell me about how your life sucks lol. I bet mine’s bad enough…My laptop died on me again and I finally got it back up today…and was continue doing my system building in my office when I read this post…I scroll down nodding to your point until the end when Minorin’s picture popped up. I got so…shocked/excited/happy/insane/grinning-like-a-madman that I accidentally hit some buttons and closes off my whole system’s programming scripts. Yay. 4 hours of labor gone lol. All because of Minorin. Talk about how beauty kills XD.

A side topic, I cant believe how unpopular Haruka-chan is right now, seeing only 2 comments on the post regarding naissance. When Trickster came out, it whoped 20 comments, but as Naissance did, there was only 2(including me)… I kinda feel sorry for her, but I guess her fame will grow. But at the same time, I also feel privelleged to be one of her 1st few fans x))))

Oh I wouldn’t say Haruka’s ‘unpopular’. She just hasn’t had any career-defining/iconic roles yet so I’d just say she’s an ‘unknown’ quantity. Just take Inoue Marina for example - I liked her for quite some time, but it was really only after Gurren Lagann & Yoko that she got a bit more popular. And er, let’s not compare her to Nana, who’s had 8 years to build up a fanatical fanbase.

Uhh, sorry, I meant not popular yet lol, didnt mean infamous. x( Wow 8 years, I didnt noe that. o_O I guess theres still a long road before she really shines.. Oh btw, I got my copy of Naissance just today!! xDD But it cost me S$37 just for 4 songs!! (if you actually count the musical ver as a song) Its worth it though, since its Haruka-chan’s debut single and I, being a fan, wouldn’t wanna miss it.. x)))

Lol at fan’s reaction. Yes I think Minorin is pretty. Yes I like her and I enjoy her music. Granted, she’s definetly one of the best looking seiyuus out there. But she’s not like an angel O_o nor she has no flaws in her facial features. She’s kinda chubby around the cheeks and I don’t think she is “kogai”, although I agree that it shouldn’t even matter since it’s just a killing-time survey. She’s damn cute, but nowhere near other asian celebrities.
