afk, twitter, bonkurasu alert

The pace of blog updates has slowed to a trickle (by my standards) but I make no excuses or apologies, I just need a time-out. Doesn’t mean I won’t update, but regular posting (radio, news roundups) is totally out of the question.

Anyone who really feels a need to stalk me can do so by following my tweets, I’m still vaguely present on parts of the GRSI (Google Reader Sex Infotainment!) aniblogger inner circle and I still occasionally do music.

Plus the side project that is threatening to turn into a main project – the adventures of 3 bonklers!!!, where (mostly) me, danie~ and townberry will cover our DaiCon escapades with Chihara Minori. You might see a lot more of me there, so do pay a visit.

Brief Daicon Updates

Umm yeah I’m supposed to be an affiliated blog for Daicon but I’m obviously lousy at keeping stuff updated. Anyway the FAQ is now up on the site with more details regarding the Minorin live so here’s a copy/paste job because I is lazy.

Collecting 2ch reactions to Chihara Minori coming to Malaysia

Normally I don’t give a shit what 2channel thinks or says, but there were some pretty amusing reactions to Minorin’s scheduled appearance at DaiCon this summer so I’m preserving for future reference.

Special Announcement: Chihara Minori LIVE @ DaiCon 2009

So this is the big news people have been waiting for – the special guest for DaiCon 2009 is the one and only Chihara Minori! Official announcement is now up, head on over to the DaiCon site to watch a special intro video from Minorin.

Anyone who’s a regular reader of this blog will need no introduction to Minorin, one of the lights of my life and that special person I happen to share a birthday with. Those who don’t – she’s the voice of Nagato Yuki in the Suzumiya Haruhi series and Chiaki in the Minami-ke series, which should be just the info you need.

Since her official relaunch on Avex, Chihara has released 5 singles and 2 albums, with another single (Tomorrow’s Chance) on the way in June. In December 2008 she played Taiwan and also appeared as part of the SOS-dan with the rest of the Haruhi girls in Anime Expo in 2007, and this will be her first time setting foot on Malaysian soil. The appearance at DaiCon marks a busy spring/summer period for Minorin, with scheduled live performances at Ga-Rei and Druaga events in May, the single in June, her 2-day open air live SUMMER CAMP in early August and Animelo Summer Live 2009-RE:BRIDGE- later the same month.

OMFGMINORINBRAINLOSSOFBLOOD$#%$^&(!@@. Ok, that’s out of the way.

To be honest – there’s maybe a shortlist of 5 or 6 seiyuu who if they appeared, would actually convince me to fly all the way to Kuala Lumpur to behave like an absolute arsehole – and Minorin’s one of them. I’m a country bumpkin who hates bright city lights and prefers rabbiting around in my own little village after all :3

So do come along for the fantarding ride in July, the two-day Minorin package (11-12 July) involves an Q&A session on the Saturday and a live set on the Sunday. Anyone planning to attend and needs further info, do feel free to email me at the address on my About page, or get in touch with the DaiCon staff.

So uh…. it’s an anime convention of sorts. I can’t tell you what it’s gonna be like as I’ve never attended one before, the only conventions I’ve ever been to all involved politicians, smart suits and plenty of smoked salmon. Something tells me that DaiCon won’t be anything close to that, and probably involves infinitely more fun stuff like karaoke, cosplay and figurine exhibitions – who knows, we might get handed complimentary radishes too.

Pssstt. There might be a seiyuu coming. Guesses currently range from Shiraishi Minoru to Hirano Aya to Chihara Minori. Pick your poison! I’m personally hoping for somebody like Kaneda Tomoko.

…at the very least you’ll be able to meet me in person, if I haven’t already fainted from fangirl hysteria or something. It’ll be relatively easy to spot me, I’ll be the one running around like a headless chicken wondering which direction the toilet is in (again, if I haven’t already fainted from fangirl hysteria). Give me a wave (or a paper bag) if you see me running by.

Updates to come when they come.
