Tuesday Notes…

24 June, 2008 (23:09) | misc | By: j1m0ne

Things I’ve now learned, having been away from the internet for 2.5 days….

-The summer anime season’s already started? Gee, I had no idea.
-Kanbe Miyuki is now dead. Jeebus, she’s the same age as me T_T
-WaiWai is gone. Heck, I loved all that trashy gossip. Didn’t change my perception of Japan one bit (as in I always suspected it was a cultural shithole anyway).
-Ketsumeishi, GReeeeN and Ayaka’s new albums all leaked. Unfortunately they’re not that good - so much for that three-way battle for the No.1 spot then, I really don’t care who gets it now. In terms of quality, I’d rate it GReeeeN>Ketsume>Ayaka, but I’d place my money on Ketsumeishi to win.
-Kitamura Eri’s single has gotten a name. REALIZE, it’s called. She talked about it a bit on ChoRaji yesterday - that she’s already recorded the songs and shot the photos for the sleeve. And she says that REALIZE’s in a musical genre that she doesn’t really like…great! Lantis calling the shots then…I’m starting to worry that it’s going to turn into some polka/country hybrid.
-New Sakakibara Yui album!!…wait, King Records/Starchild are now marketing & distributing it (with her original company LOVExTRAX still involved) so unsurprisingly, neither Koi no Honoo (5pb./Media Factory) nor Koisuru Kioku (Geneon) are on JOKER. I’m happy that Till I can see you again and Einsatz are on it, but 10th September is a loooong way away. Her official site is surprisingly muted about the release, no sexy belly-baring pics this time around then?
-I totally forgot to order Minorin’s live DVD, hah! Anyway, I’m neither desperate to get my hands on it ASAP nor am I willing to pay the exorbitant shipping fees so I’ll just wait for the next time I pick up some J-indie albums. Besides, I think it’s better that I stop buying all this pointless stuff so I can eat decent lunches and maybe buy some petrol for the car or something…

Other Boring Rants:
My fellow Sabahans are officially idiots. What’s with all these stupid SMS rumours causing KK people to push the panic button all the time? I had an amusing time watching the cars queueing for petrol from my office window around 3pm, but come 6pm… I had to restrain myself from shouting expletives at all the retards blocking the roads on my way home.

I didn’t finish Ninja Gaiden after all >_> but I did finish Breath Toiki wa Akaneiro. It was over before I realised… I just wanted to hear what stupid song Noto Mamiko’s character would be singing at the end >_> The minigames were both amusing & annoying, I laughed everytime I tried to whistle the silly tune and kept failing the tasks, lol. I liked the balloon-blowing one (blow into mic & press L when it reaches correct size), and hated the bus parking one (whistle at certain intervals to get the buses to line up), grrr. Seriously, if it wasn’t because I had gotten bored of all the other games I had with me I wouldn’t have played the damn thing. Breath had a plot thinner than a tissue paper flattened by a gorilla’s buttock, which I believe involved two emo kids, a flute, some soap bubbles, breathing on a girl’s boobs and lots of dreadful curry.

On the other hand, I find Soul Bubbles pretty endearing ^^;;

Uh…disturbing lack of images in this post. Have a Minorin one with glasses (I personally think she looks crap in them)…

Or maybe one of Kitamura Eri…

…er, I’ll probably get back to regular blogging soon. I think.

Friday Notes: Radio Shows etc

20 June, 2008 (23:31) | misc, radio | By: j1m0ne

I haven’t covered anime/seiyuu radio shows in much depth of late, despite listening to a boatload of them to while away the hours at work. Laziness, I suppose. Kobayashi Yu seems to be everywhere lately…

Celebrating 1.5 Years in the Blog Business

12 June, 2008 (23:32) | misc | By: j1m0ne

I just noticed that my last 3 posts all started off with images that featured Mizuki Nana, so I thought I’d continue the trend. No real reason to it except that I’m somewhat excited everytime I think of Nana handing me a heart-shaped lollipop, let’s move along now.

I neglected to celebrate the blog’s first anniversary and the second one is too far away so I thought I might as well celebrate my one and a half-year anniversary (first post – 13 December 2006) instead with a bunch of random thoughts. I’m posting this a half-hour or so early (12 June, 11:30pm) but anyway, 13 June also happens to be National Lobster Day and Kitchen Klutzes Of America Day, or so Google tells me. It’s also Friday the 13th tomorrow -_-;; Watch out for the black cats and ladders, eh?

And The Anime Blog Award Goes To…

6 June, 2008 (23:13) | misc | By: j1m0ne

…me. I am officially a proud recipient of a shiny People’s Choice Anime Blog Award! (at least I think it’s shiny…) Thanks to all who voted, and I hope nobody holds me at gunpoint to make me write up those Sawashiro Miyuki and Ueda Kana profiles I promised…I should’ve kept my big fat mouth shut I swear I will, one day.

I guess I won because I was the only one in the category who actually begged campaigned for votes ^^; I didn’t think I would actually win though, given that I was trailing Hashihime in the bloggers’ choice awards, but unlike lolikit I do serve the masses. Cos nobody else wants to feed the pigeons seiyuu fans some yuri love.

And that’s not to say that I don’t serve the bloggers too, but there obviously aren’t that many who care that much about seiyuu. Otherwise there’d be more than the measly 3-4 seiyuu bloggers around :P

Once again, thank you dear readers! 今年/来年もよろしくお願いします。**bows, wipes away cutting-onion induced fake tears and trips face first down the stage stairs** Oh, and thanks to all the organizers too, there were a few problems this time around (like…the results are 5 days late, heh) but we’ll hopefully get a bigger and better awards next year. Til then!

Misc News Bits - Kyoran Chara Album, Nakahara Mai, Sengoku Otome

4 June, 2008 (11:45) | misc, seiyuu | By: j1m0ne

When I first read the news that there would be a Kyoran Kazoku Nikki Character Song album release on 6th August I was like ‘Oh thank God I didn’t buy all those ending theme singles, I can now get them all on one CD’. But then I went to read the blurb on the Lantis site and I wept in both disappointment and delight. No, we’re not getting a collection of ending songs on one CD, we’re getting a brand new CD of songs from…the side characters. That means people like Mujacky, Pierre, Hiratsuka Raicho, Chieri and Shinigami Sanban. Which is good news for female seiyuu fans, cos the names confirmed to be on the album so far are Morinaga Rika, Kitamura Eri, Goto Yuko, Nakahara Mai, Kugimiya Rie, Inoue Marina & Saito Momoko. There’s a few others who I hope will be included (Shitaya Noriko, Minagawa Junko) and some I pray won’t (Kawasumi Ayako, Shimizu Ai) for the sake of my ears.

If anyone’s wondering why I didn’t cover Kyoran radio last week, it’s because I was bored to tears by it. The seiyuu spent the first half of the show pretending to sleep whilst a staff member talked crap. I seriously hope they don’t do that this week cos Tomatsu Haruka’s going to be the guest. The picture above was a sketch of Fujimura Ayumi nekomimi version by Nishikura Makeru (a play on Pierre’s real name Nishikura Akeru - makeru means ‘to lose’) aka Kitamura Eri.

Nakahara Mai’s second album has gotten a title. And I don’t think I like it >_> To be released on 25 June, Metronome Egg (メトロノームエッグ - somebody lie to me and tell me that doesn’t read Metronome Egg) consists of 10-12 songs written by a combination of her usual backroom team: rino, Yuumao & Okubo Kaoru plus a couple of new tunes penned by marble (the ones who sang the Hidamari Sketch ED). Plus point - there’s at least 8 new songs on this; the two previously-released ones announced so far are Anemone (Kamichama Karin) and Monochrome (Tactical Roar).

Someone compiled the Top 10 best-selling seiyuu singles so far this year, so I’ll just (copy) translate (paste) it here:
1. Triangler. Sakamoto Maaya (76,313 copies sold) **still charting
2. STARCAMP EP. Mizuki Nana (58,174)
3. Unnamed world. Hirano Aya (13,244) **still charting
4. Katayoku no Icarus. Sakakibara Yui (12,411)
5. Melty tale storage. Chihara Minori (11,036)
6. Spirale. Makino Yui (10,688)
7. Amaoto. Ono Daisuke (7,860)
8. Love Jump. Kuribayashi Minami (7,041) **still charting
9. Detarame na Zanzo. GRANRODEO (6,083) **still charting
10. Koi no Honoo. Sakakibara Yui (5,909)

Good lord, that’s crap. Look at the gap between No.2 and No.3… what’s worse is that the only release I can see on the horizon that might get anywhere near the 20k mark is Hayashibara Megumi’s Slayers single. Unless Nana or Yukarin put out a new one soon…

CR Sengoku Otome…

Anyone heard of this one? It’s a pachinko game based in the Sengoku period that was released last month & features a bunch of seiyuu voicing famous historical figures:
Tamura Yukari - Oda Nobunaga
Matsumoto Ayano - Toyotomi Hideyoshi
Ueda Kana - Uesugi Kenshin
Chiba Saeko - Tokugawa Ieyasu
Yamomoto Marina - Imagawa Yoshimoto
Takahashi Mikako - Takeda Shingen
Nakahara Mai - Date Masamune
Kugimiya Rie - Akechi Mitsuhide
The PVs on the official site (and on Youtube - I hope those links works, I can’t check cos Youtube is blocked where I am) show some pretty awesome theme songs by Tamura and Chiba Saeko. But it’s a bloody pachinko game $%^&$. Anime please!

Oh erm… Hi to All in Japan?

25 May, 2008 (18:53) | misc | By: j1m0ne

日本の皆様、私のブログへようこそ・・・かな?
Welcome to all who are from Japan.

下手な日本語ですみません。
Er well. My written Japanese is still bordering on the ridiculously bad so I won’t try to embarass myself by posting anything complicated in kanji but…

何故かこのブログは2ちゃんねるにリンクしたのをあんまり分からないけど・・・なんか恥ずかしい >_>
…for some reason, somebody on 2channel linked to a bunch of my posts (the Ito Shizuka profile one, the Marina cosplay one, and the craptastic yuri chart). I feel kinda embarassed…Does anyone know how to say ‘This is a sort of satirical blog’ in Japanese?

But er…thanks to all for visiting, and thanks to Watch! Seiyuu-san for writing a post about this blog. I’m ready to dig a hole somewhere and hibernate til next spring >_>

Greetings from Japan, Some Kyoran Cast News

17 May, 2008 (08:38) | misc, 狂乱家族日記 | By: j1m0ne

Greetings from Tamagawa, Setagaya, Japan! Anyway, only got in around 12am-ish after flight delays, a long queue at the immigration counter and a 30-minute taxi ride from Shinjuku station with a friendly taxi driver who seemed incredibly interested in Malaysian perceptions of Japanese things:

Taxi driver (Ushio-san, so his name plate read): So, is natto the No.1 most hated Japanese thing in Malaysia? [in Japanese]
Me: Er well, we don’t get too much natto in Malaysia really… [in terrible gaijin Japanese]
Taxi driver: So do you eat bread or rice in Malaysia? We in Japan, RICE ONLY! (He said RICE ONLY in English)

Ah well, he was pretty cool though and did give us a handful of coffee jelly sweets and told me ‘Girls don’t say UMAI, they say OISHII!’. And he was about to drive off before I shouted ‘Nimotsu!!’ (luggage was in the boot).

Yawn. It’s 9:30am now and Lawson’s ran out of melonpan so I’ll just have a butter roll for breakfast.

But what I really wanted to talk about is the seiyuu guest list for Kyoran Kazoku Nikki. You might already have noticed the appearances of Nakahara Mai (Chieri the travel agent) and Kitamura Eri (Pierre) but there’s loads more to come. The Kyoran blog listed all the future guests so keep your eyes and ears peeled to hear your favourites in upcoming episodes:
Goto Yuko: Hiratsuka Raicho
Nakahara Mai: Sakurai Chieri
Morinaga Rika: Shinigami Sanban
Kitamura Eri: Nishikura Akeru/Pierre
Minagawa Junko: Ryukotsuji Shu (竜骨寺 柊雨)
Shimizu Ai: Ryukotsuji Tsubaki (竜骨寺 椿姫)
Saito Momoko: Odessa Ei (オデッサ=エイ)
Kugimiya Rie: Mujacky (ムジャッキー)
Ishikawa Hideo: Dekamelon (デカメロン)
Inoue Marina: Madara
Shitaya Noriko: Mirukatopi (ミルカトピ)
Hino Satoshi: Katsura Rindo
Kawasumi Ayako: Dr. Hell
Kawada Shinji: Dr. Gebock (Dr.ゲボック)
Mizusawa Fumie: Momokusa Aichi
Igarashi Hiromi: Tsumiki Shizuka
Kotobuki Minako: Yamaguchi Hijiri

Today, I’m probably off to Ueno and (in an abrupt u-turn), Akihabara >_> Hopefully my next post will contain pictures…

Notice: Off On Holiday Tomorrow, Be Back In A Week!

15 May, 2008 (19:46) | misc | By: j1m0ne

I was originally going to review this week’s batch of anime-related music but I thought - Stuff it, I can’t bring myself to listen to happy happy crap like Buono! when the weather here has been the absolute dogs, all wind and rain and flying cows everytime I look out the window :/
