For the past 6 months, I’ve been listening to Moetan Listening Radio; which has been a fantastic ride despite the overall suckiness of the anime itself. Not quite sure why I’m still watching Moetan, but a lot of it is down to cuteness and my general affection for bad English. The latter is why I enjoy the radio show more than the anime itself, where humour comes in fits and spurts and the Engrish puns seem more of a sideshow than [...]
Reaction to the anime has been pretty mixed so far, I guess most people were expecting laugh-out-loud Engrish . I found it rather amusing myself, though I doubt that I’m part of the intended audience since I am:
1. Not into little girls (in a perverted way).
2. Not into pantyshots.
3. Not into ducks (or other animals).
4. [...]
Apparently the new cast members of Moetan had to do part of their audition in English. The producers’ standards must be pretty low then, given Morinaga Rika’s wooden and horrible pronunciation. Tomatsu Haruka’s isn’t too bad; guess it probably helps that she’s still in school.
