Anyway, lately I’ve been posting a lot of Shizuka-related garbage on Twitter (for some reason) but there was still a lot more stuff I wanted to mention but never quite got around to. So I guess the blog makes a pretty convenient dumping ground for Shizuka and Naba-related news!

1. I was actually waiting for Ito Shizuka’s birthday greeting to Naba to turn up on her blog yesterday but it.. never did. Turns out Shizuka was messing around and only sent her wishes to Naba a bit later for fun (焦らしプレイ, she calls it). The contents of the text – congratulations (おめでとう), I love you (愛してる), baby-making time limits (出産宣言のタイムリミット). Shizuka’s and Naba’s post use the amusing/nauseating nicknames of ‘My Honey Shizuka-san’ (私のマイハニー静さん) and ‘My Beloved Husband Hitomi-san’ (愛する旦那様・仁美さん) respectively.

2. I’m sure most NabaXShizuka fans will know this by now, but they’re featuring on a doujin drama CD called Shirayukihime (yeah, Snow White) by CLIC CLAC from the Sekai Meiwaku Gekijo series. Except this is obviously a warped yuri version featuring Snow White serving 7 bishojo instead of 7 dwarves, while the evaaahl queen has purple hair and big boobs. Both the seiyuu will be taking on multiple roles – Shizuka will be voicing Snow White, all 7 bishojo and doing the narration, while Naba is the Queen and the er… talking mirror on the wall. The disc will be sold in Comiket, Animate & Gamers and CLIC CLAC have got a promo clip up on their site… all I can say is that it’s damn confusing, can’t tell the bishojo from Snow White. Probably gonna try and get hold of the CD when I’m in Tokyo just for the hell of it, doubt it’ll be any good for my sanity but oh well. I’m M like that.

3. Something else worth looking out for – Shizuka and Naba are also part of a 3-member ‘idol’ unit called ShiChiMi (Shi for Shizuka, Chi for Yamazaki MiChiru and Mi for HitoMi, all three are KenPro seiyuu) that is releasing a single on 14th August called 8bit de Sakebitai (8bitで叫びたい), which serves as the theme song for a web TV programme hosted by Naba & Konishi Katsuyuki on Animate.tv called Konamaiki!!. ShiChiMi promoted the single by appearing on this month’s edition of Ken Channel radio hosted by Mori Norihisa.
PS. Watch Konamaiki for the Konishi goodness, he’s a real riot. The show has also featured guest appearances by the rest of Naba’s KAT-TUN loving gang – Hirohashi Ryo, Sato Rina & Shitaya Noriko. As for 8bit de Sakebitai, it’s a bit shit as you’d expect but I’m a glutton for punishment – on the shopping list it goes.

4. A bit more info about Shizuka’s recent Talk & Live event held on 26 July – there was a limit of 150 attendees so she got people who wanted to go to send in a postcard indicating their desire to go. Demand far outstripped supply though –> Shizuka received a total of 1,154 cards and then ended up handwriting & sending out 1,004 postcards of apology to the unlucky applicants. Oh yeah, reposting the link to those oh-so-(un)sexy photos from the event… sorry I keep bursting out with laughter everytime I see them ^^;

5. Hayate radio continues to be very entertaining. It’d be better if I was actually watching the anime so that the quizzes might make even the slightest bit of sense – I mean, dumb questions like ‘Which one of Hayate’s eyes was twitching when he was mistakenly accused of touching Maria’s ass?’, who the hell would know the answer…. but I do enjoy the Shizuka-Shiraishi Ryoko combination anyhow. I listen to the shows on NicoDouga, you can also hear them on Animate.tv (via proxy or VPN).

That’s pretty much as far as it goes for recent news on the pair.

I think I’ll stick a Twitter widget in the sidebar somewhere sometime soon, I post so much random rubbish there (along with all the brainfarts & swearing) that it’d be a waste for the seiyuu-related oddities to sink into obscurity.

Make that ‘Poking married old ladies in the boobs is OK too’. Married old lady in question is Hitomi, 42-year old full-time (eroge) seiyuu.

I would advise Ito Shizuka to keep her fingers to herself or Nabatame Hitomi might whip out the er… whip. Or strangle her, or break her skull with a hat stand.

Anyhoo, my internet connection was down for more than 24 hours (thanks, Screamyx!) so I amused myself with a bunch of NicoDouga videos I had downloaded earlier, including the two compilations of Ito Shizuka talking general sexual weirdness with other seiyuu, men included.

Points
1.Discussing female (seiyuu’s) bodies with Koyama Kimiko #1
-Koyama mentions that she started telling some other female seiyuu (hint: Chiba Saeko) that she liked boobs just in case she er… suddenly felt like groping her boobs
-Ito Shizuka declared that she & Ueda Kana have been labeled ‘Oppai Sommeliers’ because they go around sizing up female seiyuu’s boobs
-But lately (last year) they are more into looking at bums
-Especially when she is seated waiting for her turn in recording studios and she looks at the bums of the female seiyuu who are in the midst of recording
-Shizuka & Kimikimi agree that Kugimiya Rie’s buttocks are delicious, soft and springy (like they go ぷにゅん when you poke them apparently)

2.Discussing female (seiyuu’s) bodies with Koyama Kimiko #2
-They like thin girls but not reed-thin
-They agree that Kawasumi Ayako is nice and they like hugging her especially Kimiko
-The only three people who have touched Ayako’s boobs are 1.Ito Shizuka 2.Koyama Kimiko 3.Nabatame Hitomi
-When Ayako allowed Shizuka to grope her she had alcohol in her system. They say that Ayako is really cute when she’s drunk.
-Koyama Kimiko suggests that they should form a SekuHara (sexual harassment) Club in the seiyuu world like the 17-sai club, but Shizuka said SekuHara Club sounds like the title of an AV movie

-Ito Shizuka wants D cup boobs

-Shimura says Shizuka is bisexual, something she ponders for a while saying that ‘Am I? I’ve never gone beyond the point of touching’

-Shizuka likes Inoue Marina’s legs but Naba complains they’re too thin and prefers Koshimizu Ami’s

At that point I decided I’d heard enough weird talk about body parts and decided to go for something more wholesome to cleanse my mind, like the new episode of Maria-sama ga Miteru.

I wasn’t really planning on checking out HiNA since I am not really a fan of Hinagiku (I prefer Maria) or Ito Shizuka’s singing but Shizuka (and Hayate’s seiyuu Shiraishi Ryoko) made an amusing appearance on Anispa last weekend to promote the CD and other Hayate-related goods, and I thought some of the Hinagiku songs they played weren’t that bad. So I thought I might as well give it a shot a week ahead of the release of mangaka Hata Kenjiro’s selected anison covers album by the Hayate seiyuu (which is what I’m looking forward to).

Probably most amusing to me is that Shizuka has to sing in character, ie singing in a register high above her comfortable range – ‘I couldn’t breathe and thought I was going to die’ was her own assessment of her condition after recording Steppin’. Now I’ve got an image of a hyperventilating Shizuka stuck in my brain…

Actually, I am pretty surprised that they (referring to Tanaka Kohei, Kumano Kiyomi & Matsuda Akio) managed to coax those vocals out of her – she’s not a great singer by any stretch of the imagination, sometimes her singing can border on Noto Mamiko-levels of terribleness. Although there are a few shaky moments on songs like Ashita no Watashi, Steppin’ and Heart of Flower, Shizuka’s vocals are generally pleasant, even melodious at times.

The album is divided into two halves stylistically – the first 5 tracks are all upbeat, cheerful songs that capture Hinagiku as schoolgirl, student council president & kendo master. The latter half portrays Hinagiku as a normal teenage girl, the lyrical content dealing more with her feelings towards Hayate.

Shizuka had a go at writing lyrics for the first time ever (with the help of Kumano Kiyomi) on NOTICE – she hilariously describes the words as ‘disgusting’ from the viewpoint of Ito Shizuka, but alright from a Hinagiku mindset, which is what she kept thinking of when writing them. I don’t normally bother to read the lyrics but NOTICE’s are pretty banal (I wanna fly but I can’t fly etc), not to mention the song is tuneless and boring so I suppose it’s ‘disgusting’ from every angle for me.

Most of the other tracks are middling – Steppin’, School Days and Perfect Nanka Janai! are all fun in their own way, but don’t exactly stand out and I’m not sure I’ll remember them a week from now. Jounetsu starts off very nicely with a very 90s anison feel to it but sadly gets ruined by an oddly-phrased chorus (or is it a bridge?) and squeaky synth effects.

Ai to Jounetsu no Carnival is a horrible salsa number with random, bizarre Italian phrases scattered throughout the song – Babelfish tells me ‘buono pescatore’ means ‘good fisherman’… yeah, whatever. I thought Latino songs were supposed to be hot and sexy – this is however, colder than a polar bear’s nails and flatter than Mizuki Nana a pancake.

My three favourite songs all come in the second half of the album – tops is Omoi tachigataku, Hatsukoi narigatashi, a mid-tempo pop song with a totally catchy, totally hummable chorus. The other two are also ballads – Ashita no Watashi is cute, especially Shizuka/Hinagiku’s whispered baka and Heart of Flower is also very nice (ignore that high note that she doesn’t quite pull off towards the end) though I wish they’d stop harping on with the flower-related lyrics (Hinagiku is Japanese for daisy), it’s kinda cheesy.

The best stuff is left on the limited edition extra disc – Matsuo Hayato (FFXII, Front Mission 3) strings four of the songs together with a grand orchestral arrangement and it oddly works. Granted, the instrumental version actually sounds much better, but it at least proves that Tanaka Kohei and co’s songs are versatile enough to survive a change in style.

Overall HiNA is an average, mildly enjoyable pop album and I would wager that only Hinagiku fans (I know there are a lot of you guys around) would be inclined to fork out the cash for this. I have to say though, that hearing Shizuka in (or attempting to be in) cute Hinagiku mode is reason enough to give this a listen. The only time I’ve ever remotely thought Shizuka was cute was when she went to that ghost house as a batsu game for Yabou Jinja – otherwise she’s just a drunken old man in young women’s clothing…

HiNA debuted in the top 20 today (at No.17) which is pretty good – Okui Masami’s new album Akasha made #31 and Noto Mamiko’s character song best CD #36 as a comparison.

When drunk.

…then again, maybe not all people need alcohol to make them do funny things. Not when a certain Ito Shizuka (who I estimate is drunk about 75% of the time) is involved anyway.

Makgeolli is a type of Korean alcoholic drink, which Shizuka & Sendai Eri were consuming at a ‘private’ party to celebrate the end of their recent E.S.I. event.

Exif Reader indicates that the picture was taken just 4 minutes before Eri posted it on her blog along with a bunch of gibberish (宇痔家 instead of 打ち上げ?)… so yeah, they’re just attention-seeking whores. Not that I mind I guess.

I assume the packet of smokes obscuring the view (probably) doesn’t belong to either one of them.

Anyway, yesterday was was the day after Naba lamented about the futon thing on her blog, and she met up with Shizuka for lunch.

And during the meal, Shizuka made/received a phone call to Sendai Eri right in front of Naba (deliberately I suppose?)

Shizuka #1:
“I made a call to Eri right in front of Naba (゜▽、゜). But she forgave me… Ah, my husband of the deep bosom (*´ω`*)”

Naba:
“Yesterday I had a lunch date with Shizuka. And right before my eyes, Shizuka called Eri!!

At that time I… grabbed Shizuka’s phone!!

And I said to Eri-chan ‘THIS IS A DECLARATION OF WAR!!!”…. NOT.

Instead I just said ‘How are you? q(≧∀≦*)(*≧∀≦)p Would love to meet up and have a chat sometime’. An open invitation＼(*⌒∇⌒*)／

Cos…. I want to talk with Eri too ♪

And so, my harem the scope of my affections has been widened. Isn’t it peaceful?”

So yeah, to avoid someone unwittingly stealing your loved one away – why not just invite the ‘other person’ into your harem and share ‘em all around? Solves the jealousy issue, right? Sharing is caring!

You’d need a huge-ass futon to fit all of the Naba harem in though.

Note: Sendai Eri & Naba do actually know each other from their time on Gokujo Seitokai a few years back. Incidentally Eri is also very good friends with Koshimizu Ami aka Naba’s Mistress #2…one big happy family!

The fact is that when they asked me, I was already roaring drunk (゜▽、゜)ノ and I ended up confusing ‘comments’ and ‘credits list’ (;´д⊂) What a mistake ＿/￣|○I’m still embarrassed when I look at it.

Drinking outdoors is the best(≧д≦)ノ♪ …is what I think, but all my drinking partners spurned my invitation and now I’m consuming alcohol at home alone with the windows open (*゜ω゜) This is Corona, one of my favourite brands but it seems I should’ve chosen something else instead. I was thirsty, and Corona goes down too easily so it was like drinking 3 bottles of plain water…(;´д⊂) I should have gotten Kirin lager instead.

I’m subscribed to the blog on Google Reader so if I see her posting between 6-9am I’ll know she’s probably just stumbled back from another drinking session >_> But yeah, I like the fact that Shizuka-sama’s blog doesn’t feature much of cats, food or nail art (so far). Her blog’s really not hard at all to decipher, is it? I’m not likely to ever bother translating her posts again, but long live the drinking escapades (and it’ll be nice if she sticks the occasional yuri tale in)!

But yesterday there was some sort of ‘verification’ via Eri’s blog post about the event:

Sendai apparently said ‘But I like you too!’ at the event when Shizuka-san pointed out her prior rejection… who then rejoiced by saying ‘Woot! Another conquest!’

Anyway, some other fan reports also noted that Ogata Megumi (Ikari Shinji in Evangelion) joked about the whole thing in her talk session during the event – “I didn’t get a kiss in public, but I stole Ito Shizuka’s lips the day before yesterday”. Yeah, I’m sure Ogata’s husband will be thrilled by that revelation.
