Seiyuu and Their Art Skills…..Or Lack Of

17 December, 2007 (23:45) | gahaku, misc, seiyuu | By: j1m0ne

A recent post over at Seiyuu3 about the Minami-ke trio drawing their own Sensei & Ninomiya-kun manga got me thinking about how it seems so many seiyuu seem to have pretty decent drawing abilities. As houkoholic says, a good proportion of the current seiyuu grew up as anime/manga fans with some originally aiming to be illustrators.

The Adventures Of Gahaku….Continued

5 March, 2007 (05:00) | gahaku, seiyuu | By: j1m0ne

I like poking fun at Kobayashi Yu aka Gahaku (Master Artist Extraordinaire), who can’t draw to save her life. Despite the fact that I can barely draw myself. I was browsing through my usual catalogue of seiyuu blogs when I stumbled across Fukui Yukari’s blog post on the Goth Lolis’ attempt to draw Ronald McDonald. Kataoka was so moved by this work of art she described Kobayashi as a ‘modern-day Picasso’. Gahaku!

8 January, 2007 (00:50) | gahaku, negima, seiyuu | By: j1m0ne

Is this art, or this art?

I’d been looking for the stuff that came with the special Negima iPod - NegiPon!? which was released on Christmas Day; and some of it’s up on Youtube now.

小林ゆう画伯塾入門 (Kobayashi Yu Gahakujuku Nyumon - Yu Kobayashi’s ‘Gahaku’ Cram School Primer)

She must have very thick skin.

Oh, and the rest of the Christmas talks with Aipon, Kanda-san, Rina and Yu (parts 2/3 feature more Gahaku goodness):

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KGXGsrYCLQ
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyP817rfq2c

Part 2 - Konoka Love, my God. And Aipon’s Setsuna cake made me laugh.

I love a lot of the characters Yu plays; the weird (Lala Gonzalez), the wacky (Ayame Sarutobi), and the cool (Setsuna Sakurazaki) but hearing/seeing her in person is a little….. strange at times. She just seems awfully apologetic and overly polite all the time, as if her presence is causing trouble to others ;/

Master Artist Kobayashi Yu

I doubt many people would be familiar with the name Kobayashi Yu (outside of seiyuu fanatics. Like me) but I’m sure at least some would know a few of the characters she’s played. The fan-favourite Sakurazaki Setsuna in the Negima series and Lala Gonzalez in School Rumble should ring some bells.
