Guess The Female Seiyuu?

Born half out of boredom and half out of frustration at seeing Federer capitulate yet again against Nadal. Yawn. Anyway I was thinking about how easy it appears to be to compile a top 10 favourite female seiyuu list, but nobody’s able to do, or is interested in the guys. Boohoo.

I was gonna make this a top 10 female-seiyuu-who-do-male-voices list, but it bored me; so instead I’m what follows is 20 voice samples of female seiyuu voicing male characters - some dead obvious, some maybe not so. Some are really good, and some are painfully rubbish. Have a go at identifying them, I’ve tried my best to make it as easy as possible. Of course it’s limited by the fact that not all female seiyuu do male voices so don’t expect to find Hirano Aya here…. The files are all fairly small so hopefully it won’t take too long to load.

EDIT: Apologies if it’s taking up too much of your CPU usage with all those flash players ^^;;; I’ll attempt to fix that…tomorrow.

Erm… hints?
01. 2 of the 20 are on my Top 10 Faves List.
02. No.9 and No.15 were cut from the same anime.
03. All of the anime were broadcast within the last 10 years.
04. No.13 is a half animal/half boy ^^;
05. No.1’s number of male roles outnumber the female ones by a ridiculous margin.
06. No.17 is the youngest amongst all the 20 - she just turned 22.
07. No.12 is the most blindingly obvious one, though she is not really a seiyuu & more of a stage actress.
08. No.20 comes from a anime franchise based on a series of sci-fi novels.
09. No.4 is from an Daichi Akitaro anime.
10. No.1 & No.6 mention important ‘keywords’ that are part of the anime plotlines ^^;;
11. No.19 is from a current long-running series with well over 100 episodes (No, it’s not Naruto)
12. No.16 is from an anime that is not based on Planet Earth, but has nothing to do with space or science fiction either.

Here goes; have fun - you can give yourself extra points if you can identify the anime as well.

    Here’s my shot.
    1. Saiga Mitsuki (obvious one)
    2. Sounds like Asano Masumi
    3. Kugimiya Rie
    4. Okamura Akemi (ima soko ni iru boku)
    9. I know I am going to kick myself after I hear the answer to this one.
    10. Noto Mamiko (maybe in one of the FMP animes)
    11. Sounds like Inoue Marina
    12. Suzukaze Mayo (Kenshin)
    17. The talented Sawashiro Miyuki (Pitaten banzai!)
    19. I think it’s Kawakami Tomoko in Keroro Gunso
    20. Imai Yuka (Sekai no Monshou series)

    Some of the others sound really familiar, but I just can’t place them…

    1. Saiga Mitsuki
    2. Kuwashima Houko
    3. Kugimiya Rie
    4. Okamura Akemi
    5. Paku Romi
    6. Kaida Yuki
    7. Mizuki Nana
    8. Ookata Emi
    9. Asakawa Yuu
    10 Noto Mamiko
    11 Inoue Marina
    12 Suzukaze Mayo
    13 Asano Masumi or Nabatame Hitomi Their voices are quite similar when playing guys…but I guess I’m leaning more to Asano Masumi…
    14 Sanada Asami
    15 Kobayashi Sanae
    16 Pretty sure I’ve heard that voice before but can’t put the name…>_<
    17 Sawashiro Miyuki
    18 Very familar but can’t think of the name.>_< I think it's Minagawa Junko...
    19 Kawakami Tomoko (have to admit I couldn’t think of the name even though it’s realy famliar.^^;)
    20 Imai Yuka This I can’t really tell(since I never watch that series) until seeing Wavedash’s answer and remembered it’s exactly the same as her guy voice as Wayne in Growlanser 2.^^; Man, she just don’t appear much lately…

    I think it’s more fun not guessing by series since it’s be way easier but for someone like Suzukaze Mayo…you just can’t tell if you never seen the series at all.^^; Have to say this is kinda hard for me as I rarely checking out the credit for male roles female seiyuu do. For some of them who does pretty much all guys most of the time then it’s pretty easy to tell after hearing so often.(Saiga Mitsuki, Paku Romi, Kaida Yuki…etc. Kinda surprised there’s no Shiraishi Ryouko here or did I screwed that up?!)

    You are nuts. Asides from Mayo Suzukaze, I don’t know. Looks like a case of PES (Post-Exam Syndrome) to me.

    d is almost right on the money ^^;;

    Answers are coming soon, I’m debating whether to do a follow-up post by providing samples for their ‘normal’ female voices too as a means of comparison….

    Sure it’d kinda neat if you don’t mind the work and time required.^^ My suggestion would be getting their usual talking voice sample than from some other series since some of them are quite different off air.(eh I guess not voicing in a series would make more sense?^^) Plus even as female characters, quite few of them have different types.

    Ideally I’d like to provide both but I’m having a bit of trouble finding ‘non-anime’ voice samples for 2-3 of them ^^;

    Yeah those are harder unless you get samples from radio or tv apperance. I thought you’re pretty resourceful though since you check out non internet broadcast programs alot.^^

    Speaking of radio program, last week they mentioned Utawarerumono radio is going to be over this month.>_< I really don’t quite get what Aquaplus/Onsen/etc is thinking seriously since it’s pretty popular while the so so TH2 have been running lik 2 years now…^^; Well if Koyama and Yuzuki will get together by the end then I guess I won’t feel so bad.^^ Or maybe they gonna pull an Aria on listener like they did before.^^;
