So er… people have been posting all about Chihara Minori lately and I didn’t want to feel too left out -_-
Paradise Lost is growing on me quite a bit now, and I don’t really hate Melty Tale Storage that much anymore so maybe there’s hope left for Parade. But comparing them to some of my faves - Junpaku Sanctuary, Konayuki and Shijin no Tabi… uh well.
Makenai is my favourite Minorin song for pure sentimental reasons, hearing it for the first time I thought - ‘Maybe I don’t dislike her that much after all’.. Also, it was the theme song for her Makenai radio show, something I listened to almost every Thursday during its two-year run. And it’s where I actually learned to love her airheadedness and eternally bright personality, and er… I recall Ito Shizuka threatened to punch Minorin for making a super dumb comment 
But whatever.

Then I am brought down to earth when in the corner of my mind, I recall the atrociousness of Minorin’s debut seiyuu performance in Tenjou Tenge. God, I really hated her at that point. But as you can see, me & Minorin - proof that you can learn to love someone you previously detested!
Maybe in 5 years time I’ll be declaring how much I loooove Hirano Aya and want to do the payapaya with her. Somebody kill me when that day comes.

I’m with you all the way j1m0ne! I’m with you all the way! XD. It’s just that I want to eat her for breakfast, lunch, tea time, dinner and supper. I’m constantly hungry what can I do. Though I have to admit, sometimes, I still cannot stand how she talks. It’s too squeaky and she’s get a little bit overexcited…I just wanna wring her neck and gargh! I shouldn’t have watched her DVD Message 01. I hate to freaking turn the volume of my speaker up so loud because she’s “whispering” her way through. Of course I get the surprise of my life when I get some notifications sound from my voice messenger (they are not as timid as Minorin). !@$!@! Ahh..why am I complaining about Minorin again?
Who cares about her soft voice? I just want to stuff her in my closet everyday! XD

I wonder how she looked when she was in school. If picture of her prior to SHnY are any indication, she was probably some little chubby kid (uniform fetish starts acting up…).
Singing wise, I find her a good technical singer (and that’s it). Her singing voice isn’t particularly unique (other than the squeakiness) and she doesn’t have the lung power.

Minorin has no lung power?! Lol. Ok, I’m not commenting here as her stalker/hardcore delusional lover but seriously she has alot of lung power there. Did you listen to how she pull her notes in Ameagari no hana yo sake? She definitely has the lung power when it comes to singing…but talking? YES SHE HAS NO LUNG POWER. I CAN’T HEAR HER AT ALL.
Oops another outburst there…
Now perhaps I should head to her blog and propose to her saying “I will go the grave with you will you marry me?” XD.

I dunno about lung power, but she sure got NOSE POWER (like she’s talking through her nose when voice acting >_< )

I just don’t find myself impressed by Minorin’s vocal prowess. Maybe I am spoilt by old artistes with classical training. She wears a nice pair of oxygen tanks in front of her though.
Disclaimer: I-am-not-a-music-expert (IANAME).
I first heard her in the SHnY OST and favoured her clear voice among the 3 SOS girls (I fell in love with her when I saw Gekisou but that’s another story altogether). To me, she is fine as a pop singer. She is trained, so she sings on key and can keep her voice steady. She has enough lung power for a pop artiste, that’s all. I don’t listen much to Jpop so IMHO, Mizuki Nana is a better vocalist with larger range and better power.

I guess it’s all down to personal preference. I myself tend to favour those with melodic, understated vocal styles (ppl like aiko, Kumaki Anri etc) - not particularly fond of gut busting powerful singers really. Nana is probably the exception.
Er, now that you mention it I guess the pic’s a bit fuzzy. I have no idea where I got it from & will go hunting for it again… I’ll reupload it later on.

@MT: Yes, I do agree that Minorin is not the most powerful singer out there. What I am trying to say is, compared to other seiyu’s (except for Nana Mizuki) she has a decent lung power. I am not bawling over her singing skills or anything so lol chill man. I’m a professionally trained vocalist but hey I listen to Hoc-chan’s songs every single day lmao. It doesn’t matter how sucky they sound…as long as I love them XD.
And oh..the picture loads up fine with me. I managed to copy pasta it to my computer just fine. Just try reloading the picture or click the picture to show it to it’s original size. Be patient. It’s imageshack. This stuff happens. Either that or you want for j1m0ne to reupload it to somewhere else

Oh crap there ARE some weird lines. But my 12inch laptop screen is so small I cannot really detect it..besides…I was too busy staring at the face…and not really the legs XD.

Sweet! And dear god. I repent on my sins. I shall not open anymore Minorin pictures and drool at them when I’m using my high school computer and am surrounded by alot of curious female teenagers. It’s stupid of me not being able to resist the temptation of loading Minorin’s picture even when I went back to my ex-high school and was actually fixing my school’s printer. Now I guess all my juniors are going to think I’m a weird pervert. (For those who haven’t already).
Next time I visit my high school I need a paper bag covering my head. Sigh.

Hey, if Minorin shares my interest in cryptozoology (even if it’s a skeptical interest), then she’s all right with me. She also shares my mom’s and one of my cousin’s birthdays.
As for her songs, they’re kinda typical J-Pop, but I beg to differ with those who say she has no lung power. Have you heard her live?
She also occasionally performs some cute acoustic songs (before she landed the role of Yuki she performed as a street musician for a while), and I wish she’d do more of those. Overall I kinda think she’s a better singer than seiyuu.
