It’s a Happy, Happy Birthday
Already the 18th in Japan & just an hour away here, so raising a glass of virtual Kampai to Chihara Minori and myself in celebration of the anniversary of the day we were born. Apparently it’s Mickey Mouse’s birthday as well.
Being of Chinese descent, I naturally have an interest in numbers.
Minorin is 28 this year. 2+8 = sounds like ‘you prosper’ in my dialect
I am 24 this year. 2+4 = sounds like ‘you die’ in my dialect…

Keep up with the excellent work! And LOLZ @ the numbers. I guess 94 is another amusing age to look forward to for us who speak Hakka ^^;;;… Thank goodness it’s really far away. Well, it can’t be as bad as my chemistry teacher’s car license plate number - 4414. Not sure whether you’ve seen this car before coz she used to live in the house 1 to 2 blocks away from All Saints around a decade back. She moved away in 2006 IIRC. I used to see it whenever I pass through the Likas area. ^^

About the numbers: the amusing thing is that my office extension code is 254 (ie ‘you won’t die’) so I guess that’s some sort of countermeasure there xD
And LOL 4414 - it’d be funnier if it was 4174 (die & keep dying) or 4964 (rolled to death by a dead dog). Oh, the fun in Chinese + numbers

Happy birthday to both of you! Don’t worry; it’s 27 that you have to be concerned about. That’s when Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain all bought it. I’ll be that age next year… Maybe I should try to avoid flying on my birthday, since a lot of musicians and celebs have met their fate in airplanes. (Blender magazine named the Wright brothers as one of “Music’s 20 Most Dastardly Villains.”)
Nov. 18 is my mom’s birthday, and my cousin Dave’s as well, so it’s a special day for me as well. As long as we’re on numerology, my lucky number is 18. My birthday is 7/29, and 18 is between those numbers. Both 7 and 29 are separated from 18 by 11, so…11/18 pops up again. Okay, I’ll stop now.
So congrats on successfully avoiding the Year of Doom, Minorin! And we’ll all pray for you, JimOne.

Nope, I’m Malaysian Hakka so I have no idea that 2 in any other language (we pronounce it ‘ngi’) would sound similar to ‘prone to’. My Mandarin sucks btw.
