Kobayashi Yu - FIGHT OR FLIGHT PV + YOU&YU Album Promotion
Hey, a friendly reminder to all that Kobayashi Yu’s debut album YOU&YU will be released next Wednesday on the 26th of March. Er… in the excitement of moving my blog I actually forgot to pre-order the album >_> so I’ll probably wait til the next paycheck is out before I load it into my shopping cart. I don’t know what to make of that cover though… bullfighting? Odd.
Anyway, short samples of some songs on the album are already up on Konami’s site and I’m loving Yakusoku so far - the album has a very pop-rock feel to it and of course I’m cheered up by the fact that HΛL are producing it. I saw the (kinda cheap-looking) full FIGHT OR FLIGHT PV yesterday:
Mmm, legs. Can you imagine Noto Mamiko or Nonaka Ai dressed up & shaking about like that? (Mental image…) Noooo. God knows what chord Yu was trying to strum on the guitar though, I’m pretty sure it’s nothing like the C#m B A B pattern that’s played throughout the song.
To be honest I don’t really care what the heck the album sounds like anyway - it’s almost an irrelevant issue for me when purchasing seiyuu albums - just the other day I was digging through a box of my Japanese albums and was surprised to find that I was in possession of a Natsuki Rio CD. ?_? I don’t even remember buying it at all, let alone remember what it sounded like. Gave it a spin and it was… awful, to put it lightly.
Anyway, promo for YOU&YU has already started and it’s in the usual bizarre Kobayashi Yu method that only fans can appreciate. The video from animate.tv has her jumping around, proclaiming herself as a rock star and yelping like Michael Jackson (around the 1:10 mark). Fantastic. I’ve uploaded the video here but I dunno how fast it’ll load - maybe you’ll have more luck from the link above. I’ll probably take it down later, god knows how much bandwidth it’ll suck up.
I don’t think many people in or outside of Japan will bother to buy YOU&YU but if you’re a Yu fan, do yourself (and her) a favour by picking it up.

I really can’t stomach this almost non-edited videos, but they are good for a laugh. Especially when she thanks the chair for being able to spin, because that’s how the album is like. (hand waving a pot stirring) Mix…
I was hoping you’d cover Yu’s her recently released photo book as well. Erm, probably not, right. Its supposed to come out with a DVD. I would buy it because I would like to see more legs, but no. The album comes first though.

I was thinking of buying the photobook but held back, partly cos… yeah, I’m not really into that sort of thing.
Talking about funny non-edited Kobayashi Yu videos, did you see the i-revo ‘One Question, One Answer’ interview she did to promote FIGHT OR FLIGHT? Now that was totally hilarious ^^; My favourite one went something like:
Q: 普段、何て呼ばれていますか？
A: 父からは・・・”ちょっと来なさい”。母からは、女性らしいの”ねえ”って言う言葉が多いです。
I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. I might actually do a post on this interview in the future, as something like ‘How Not to Learn Japanese the Kobayashi Yu Way’ or something.

Nice legs.
Her videos are always entertaining, albeit a bit scary at times. I’ll have hear a sample of her album first before I buy it; I didn’t really like her previous single so I don’t know how much I’ll like this album (I like it back when she sang more pop songs).

Heh, the interviewer is asking what is her nickname and she comes up with some off-the-wall answer! Ha.
Personally, I didn’t love her last single either. But I bought her CD alubm anyway (just a couple of hours ago). Too bad there’s no cheerleader outfit picture. :-/

LOL, did she really say that? Given that it IS Kobayashi Yuu we’re talking about, I guess I should sort of expect her to say something like that.
Speaking of Kobayashi Yuu, while I do take notice to her as a seiyuu, her personality is quite strange at times. e.g. quiet normally, then flipping out “gorilla-style” in a quick character skit, then back to being quiet.
