Kyoran Hotpot – Susume! Denpa Nikki #6

While I’m still on the subject of food, I thought I’d show you what the Kyoran seiyuu ate on the radio show last Friday.

The staff members usually buy the two girls a bento box of nice goodies, but this time they’d brought a nabe (hotpot) into the studio. Looks pretty normal, eh?

But this is Kyoran Kazoku Nikki, so there is no such thing as normal. Their belated game-come-punishment (read: episode 3) was to get listeners to mail in their suggestions of ingredients to add to the nabe. And of course, when you leave it up to masses it’s always going to end in tears*.

The staff had however, kindly brought some sake into the studio for the two seiyuu. You could hear that they were a bit tipsy towards the end of the show – do all girls start giggling spontaneously when they’re intoxicated?

Fujimura Ayumi’s profile says that her special skill is hula hoop, so they made her do it in the studio to decide what ingredients would be added to the nabe.

Basically they wrote all the ingredients down on pieces of paper and stuck them to the hula hoop. Fujimura would then have to do the hula and try to get rid of as many of those papers as possible. The ones that were still stuck to the hoop at the end of the 30 seconds would be added to the nabe.

To cut it short, Fujimura only succeeded in getting rid of one ingredient, which was actually a pretty decent one too (gyusuji – beef tendon).

The ones she didn’t:

Choux ice-cream

Umaibo (a puffed corn snack)

Matcha (powdered green tea)

Kurage (jellyfish)

Nikuman (steamed meat bun)

Curry

Kinchaku (fried tofu pouches)

Grapes

Cucumber

Tomato

Gummy sweets

So the staff went off to the nearest kombini to get the ingredients, though I don’t think they succeeded in procuring any jellyfish. Probably not something you can easily find in Lawsons or 7-11. They then tipped all the stuff into the nabe and this was what they ended up with:

Fujimura described the smell as being ‘like raw garbage’. Predictably, it tasted awful and there were the usual vomiting sounds. The girls did manage to force the staff to eat it as well so it wasn’t all bad. It doesn’t look so bad to me anyway ^^;

Full show on Nico Nico Douga.

* This is pretty similar to the Kujibiki Recipe segment from KujiUn radio (where Nonaka Ai & Koshimizu Ami put like, 4-5 random foodstuffs into a blender and consume the results) and Tetsugaku.Dokugaku.Shinmikaku from the Negima radio show (Kuwatani Natsuko & Ishige Sawa drink dreadful juice concoctions inspired by Yue’s exotic tastes). The listeners tried their utter best to poison the poor seiyuu but so far, nobody has died yet.

  • Neo Horizon

I gagged a little just by looking at the photo. XD I think it wouldn’t have been so bad if the liquid wasn’t green. That strange gooey part near the bottom of the pot looks vile though. :S

  • I feel for them… I’ve had to do something like that before… It was pretty disgusting. Mine had bits of cookie, cooked egg, sandwich, mandarin oranges and other such offerings… swimming in orange juice and chocolate milk. that was disgusting, especially since it smelled like vomit.

    Stupid elementary school dares…
