The producers dispensed with the games this time, and made it a “Letter Reading Week” instead. Yeap, all they did was read mails sent in by listeners. Now that might sound boring to you, but trust the producers to come up with all sorts of crazy schemes and like episode 2 of the anime, the show desecended into absolute chaos pretty quickly.

Before I move on, a look at this episode’s dinner.

So what can you possibly do to spice up a boring letter reading session? By challenging the two seiyuu to read 60 mails within 50 minutes, with the promise of a reward if they manage to and a punishment game if they fail. Unfortunately, it also succeeded in making Fujimura and Sato trying to read out everything at top speed >_>

Anyway, they set some topics for listeners to mail in for:
-Opinions about the Kyoran Kazoku Nikki anime.
-What are you doing for Golden Week?
-What sort of Denpa Nikki novelty goods would you like to see?
-What sort of interesting sound effects would you like us to produce?
-What sort of imitations would you like us to do?

The first three mails they read out sounded odd since they kept talking about the ‘other’ radio show Susunu! Kyoran Kazoku Keikaku and had pennames related to Kyoran characters (Ginka’s bride? Agressive Lion?). Turns out they were sent from Yasumoto Hiroki (lion), Fujita Yoshinori (okama) and Kondo Takayuki (daddy) ^_^ Way to go for Midarezaki family solidarity.

After reading a bunch of mail, it was Fever Mail Time (basically speed reading time). The first theme chosen was ‘imitations’ but the girls were dealt a cruel blow when told that the producers would judge each of their imitations and if it didn’t live up to expectations, it would be thrown out and would not contribute towards their target of 60 mails.

The first bunch of imitations (O – pass, X – fail):
-Choshu Riki (wrestler) X
-Hanazawa Kana (Yuka’s seiyuu) O
-Wakamoto Norio (no, he’s not in Kyoran) X
-Koizumi Junichiro (former Prime Minister) X
-A funny imitation of an animal O (fantastic sheep imitation!)
-Imitate a Kyoran character apart from your own O (another great one of Ginka)

The second Fever Mail Time was the one about producing sound effects. The radio staff had already prepared an assortment of odd objects, and based on the mails sent in by listeners, the two seiyuu would have to match the desired sound to the object. Sound confusing? It’s not really. Example:
-The sound of Yuka’s head hitting the button of the switch in the opening sequence (the seiyuu would then have to choose something that made something resembling a ‘clicking’ sound).
Other stuff they got:
-The sound (at 11am) of the fire department helping you to saw off a ring that you can’t remove from your finger (they used what I think was maracas to reproduce a sawing sound)
-The sound of a hard disk crashing (for some reason, they blew some sort of horn -_-)

Then another round of imitations, this time with a twist. Fujimura and Sato had to read mails simultaneously @_@ It was total, utter chaos as you can imagine. I couldn’t even tell you who was doing what imitation by the end of it all – most of them made zero sense anyway >_> Here’s some that I actually caught (there are a few more that I absolutely couldn’t hear):
-Doraemon (futuristic cat)
-Your mother (yes, literally)
-Medama Oyaji (from Gegege no Kitaro)
-Kitano “Beat” Takeshi (actor)
-Oda Yuji (actor)
-Yasumoto Hiroki (Teika’s seiyuu)
-Kojima Yoshio (a comedian who often only wears Speedo trunks on TV)
-Michael Jackson (professional weirdo)
-Takigawa Christel (TV announcer)
-somebody from Abarenbo Shogun
-Kurage Neko-san (a jellyfish cat)
-A certain blonde teacher (no I don’t get this either)
-Gokusen’s Yankumi (played by Nakama Yukie)
-Hard Gay (foo!)
-Gumin #3’s burp (see last week’s show)
-A jellyfish version of Kyoka
-Edo Harumi (stand up comedian)

But anyway… at the end of it all, the poor girls only managed to read 55 mails. They’ll get their punishment at the just-announced Kyoran Kazoku Nikki event, to be held on 2 May at Akihabara UDX and which will feature appearances from all the seiyuu cast + MOSAIC.WAV.

Other interesting things mentioned throughout the show:
-Sato Rina used a GPS navigation system to find her way to the Bunka Hoso studios. This week, when she input ‘Hamamatsu-cho, Bunka Hoso’ into the system, it gave her directions to Suzuka Circuit (which isn’t even in Tokyo) instead.
-Fujimura Ayumi made a mistake when it came to the title call – she said Susunu! instead of Susume! (Susunu! is part of the title of the ‘rival’ show hosted by the Kyoran boys).
-Sato Rina’s favourite Kyoran character apart from her own is Chika. Fujimura Ayumi’s favourite is Hyoka.
