Kyoran Kazoku Nikki’s AT-X run starts on 21st April, but they aired a pre-broadcast special on the 14th, featuring a background look at the characters and interviews with the seiyuu cast. A quick whizz through the seiyuu bits of the 24 minutes:

Tomatsu Haruka was the narrator for this special episode. Probably only to make up for the fact that she didn’t get interviewed like the rest of the cast -_- Guess she wasn’t at the recording studio when they filmed it. Plus, the producers seem to want to keep her character Senko/Chika’s identity a quasi-secret for as long as possible (even her profile on the official site is blanked).

Sato Rina said This is the first time I’m voicing a jellyfish… I don’t think there’ll be a second time, darling. She says she’d tried her best to put in as many jellyfish ad-libs as possible. I think they took pity on Rina-chan for having so little input during recordings that they let her co-host the radio show.

Hanazawa Kana = Midarezaki Yuka. OK, maybe Kana’s not as cute as Yuka, but she’s about as airheaded as her character. She says (after an eternity spent thinking) that the most fun part about voicing Yuka is her moe-ness. And that she hopes to be more moemoe (IRL) too.

Another day, another bad Hirohashi Ryo hairdo. Remember the afro? Throughout her 30+secs interview, she sounded really bored. Hardly looked at the camera too - she’s either incredibly sleepy, or drugged up to her eyeballs. Ryo-chan has been well known to go on heavy drinking sessions, often waking up after a weekend bender wondering how on earth she got home. However, she recently claimed that she has given up sake, much to the disbelief of Minagawa Junko. So it might be alcohol withdrawal symptoms at play here ^^

Once I heard of Ginka’s character setting, Fujita Yoshinori (who voiced Kaoru in Ouran) was the name that instantly entered my mind when thinking of potential seiyuu that fit the role. Yes, Fujita’s a bit…girly. He describes Ginka as “Being an okama-chan…unlike me”. XD He is sooooo not telling the truth.

Yasumoto Hiroki is the real garboy. Or should that be gar-lion? Anyway, his voice is so unbelievably deep you could dig a hole and sleep in it. Angen (his nickname - an alternate reading of his surname 安元) joked about his lack of a beard - the interview was at night and he said he’d shaved it off in the morning. He praises Fujimura (oka-sama, as he calls her) and describes her performance as ‘the one thing to watch out for’ in Kyoran. Yasumoto also voices Chad in Bleach by the way.

Oto-san Kondo Takayuki (known as TK in the seiyuu world) and Oka-san Fujimura Ayumi spoke about how well the cast got on, and that they were pretty much like a (frenzied) family. Fujimura related how they bought one of the male cast members a pair of gaudy-looking underwear for his birthday…which means it can only be Yasumoto Hiroki they’re referring to, since TK and Fujita’s birthdays are in the middle of the year.

A bit of promotion for the radio shows followed - there’s two versions as I’ve mentioned, the girls’ one that airs live and the boys’ that is uploaded onto the internet. Yay! There is footage of the live broadcast show after all. Maybe we’ll get that Cola game they played last week as a DVD special one day.

It was really funny when Kondo asked Fujimura So how long is your show’s broadcast? and when Ayumi replied 1 hour, TK angrily karate chopped the Kyoka-sama doll that had been sitting on the table. The boys’ radio show lasts only 5 minutes, and is self-recorded in a small room whilst the girls get a big studio with nice food and comfy seats.

And the obvious highlight of the show - the Okama-chan ending.

Eh, I seem to be doing way too many Kyoran-related posts this past fortnight (4 out of the last 6). I promise the next one won’t have anything to do with Kyoka-sama.
