Listen to Anime Radio?
I talk ever so often about anime/seiyuu radio shows, but I wonder how many ppl out there listen to them…. I guess it’s pointless if your comprehension of the Japanese language doesn’t extend beyond baka, tsundere and moe. Anyhow I’ve built up a small collection of these shows (though I usually perform a mass deletion every 3 months or so) that I’ve either downloaded from the web or recorded off Peercast. Obviously the quality of the latter isn’t too hot but hey, that’s AM radio for you. I haven’t actually gotten round to sorting most of them out yet; they’re all cryptically named (ie radio23×3y77.wma) but I hope to upload stuff in the future that I find interesting.
For now, I’ve only got the Busou Renkin radio show that featured Hirano Aya and Chihara Minori’s Makenai Radio (last week’s episode) that had Toyoguchi Megumi on as a guest. Click the button below to go listen/download them.

I’ve got a really limited Japanese vocabulary, but I’ve listened to a few episodes of the Negima radio show. I have no idea what anyone’s saying, but it’s fun to listen because I can get a sense of the seiyuus personalities. I look forward to the stuff you’ll be uploading. ^_^

Nowadays there are alot more program broadcast on internet compare to before so it’s alot easier to listen to them for those who aren’t in Japan. Alot of them aren’t that interesting really even the long running ones often turn out that way.(cough cough…TH2)
The ones I’m checking regularly now is none other than Utawarerumono Radio. Haven’t missed one and it’s really entertaining.^^ It was a Friday program at Onsen but after a while they moved it to Monday probably has alot to do with it being too popular crashing the server so it’s better on Monday instead server crashed during weekend without anyone around to fix it.
Witchbadio was pretty interesting too but ended for a while already. Really fun to hear alot Noto’s boke/tennen part plus her eerie way take on Japanese classic nursery rhymes.^^
School Rumble weekend was kinda fun most of the time since SR author Kobayashi Jin was a regular(pretty much a third personality really.^^) That ended recently too though.
Aria The Sation Due is pretty fun to especially during the ones with Oohara Sayaka since they picking on her.^^; Also Nishimura Chinami does a really good imitation of her.

Yeah I do try to catch Utaware radio though I often forget ^^; at least the radio CDs will sort of make up for it…. am looking forward to Koyama Tsuyoshi’s Shin Utawarerumono theme CD, oh April can’t come fast enough…..
There are just so many internet radio shows nowadays it’s hard to sift through all the rubbish. A lot depends on the seiyuu’s personality (or lack of). I tend to pick shows with seiyuu I like, or anything with ppl such as Ueda Kana, Goto Yuko, Asano Masumi etc who know how to host a radio program properly.

That’s a good way to filter I suppose but still doesn’t work too well that often I thought. At least to my experiences.^^; I mean I like Tanaka Rie but her Red Garden radio was a snooze fest to me. I suppose it also has alot to do with the promo material. I totally stopped checking it out ever since the first one. I had a chance to check out a record of her gaming related program from few years ago and it was more interesting. She’s a total gaming nut especially MMORPG.^^
I check out TH2 once a while being a Shizuka fan but it does get quite dull often.(same goes for Kochiriku< -that was a funny bit when Toriumi around...hehe. That one was pretty fun.) I mean her and Yurishii works but sometimes the program is just so boring even when there's a guest around. At least the opening shorta drama is always really fun to listen.^^
Checked out the Keroro one before since I kinda like Nakata Jouji’s voice. Boring as hell. Plus not that big a fan of the show much ’cause it gets quite repetitve even though I do like Moa.^^
Tried to check out more Ikkitousen DDR but for some reason I couldn’t connect to it probably most of the time after listeninged to the first one. It’d either be totally dead or really really choppy. So I haven’t tried for a while even though it has Asano Masumi and Nabatame Hitomi. It’s a fairly show program but the first one was pretty fun to listen. Nabatame Hitomi’s Ohisama to osanpo at onsen was so so even though I do like her. Guess has some to do with the cohost who is some producer or whatever… That one around Christmas I accidently checked out was kinda amusing though as she was kinda drunk from just a glass of champagne. Sounds quite eroppoi.(well I guess you probably won’t be that interesting to hear if you aren’t a guy.^^;) It was quit interesting they’d broadcast it but heard afterward she did gave them the ok to do so.
Speaking of Utawarerumono Radio, Koyama Rikiya and Yuzuki Ryouka are going pretty steady lately as you can also see from recent weeks’ photo.^^ There was a period Rikiya was kinda cold to her(even though she went all out baked a cake for his birthday and even give him a special order matching fork&knife cell strap to have pair look.^^) but now is looking good. I guess Fukuyama Jun’s appearance helped that somehow?^_- It was also quite fun to hear that particular Busou Rekin radio broadcast which Koyama Rikiya appeared as the guest. The last broadcast was really fun in a way as the Dori&Gura corner’s themes were telephone(could spawn to ketai in a way right?^^) and gondola. If you’ve heard the program for a while you’d know the whole rukcus ever since Oohara Sayaka cohost the program with Koyama during that time Yuzuki was absent. As alot of anime fans would totally link gondola to a pretty popular iyashikei anime which Oohara Sayaka was in also.^^; Anyway, I guess it’s a good thing either of them know that so Yuzuki didn’t get mad.^^ Also during the futsuota, one of the listen suggested Utawarerumono theater version like quite few popular anime did in recent years. They had alot fun talking about it and personally I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all really since Koyama Rikiya’s main field is theater anyway.
Blabbed quite a bit… Sorry about that as not that many people would talk about radio much unless they get a translated scripe.^^; I love listing to radio/CD drama too. Got hooked quite few years ago.

Yeah, I always wondered if I was talking to myself regarding anime radio/drama CDs because obviously not a lot of ppl would listen to them without translations or transcripts. So I’m always glad to see someone with similar interests.
I tend to pick terrestrial radio shows (those on JOQR) because I find them more interesting (they’d have to be, otherwise they wouldn’t have a very long run would they?). Chihara Minori is someone I’m starting to like a lot; she’s bubbly, seems down to earth and is genuinely likeable. Same goes for Shimokawa Mikuni (not a seiyuu, but anyway).
I love Shizuka-sama, but I dunno… sometimes she just sounds really lazy when doing radio shows. Maybe she’s got a massive hangover ^^;
I guess another thing I look for is the interaction between the hosts; which is why I like Utawarerumono Radio - Riki and Yuzu-chan together are fun to listen to. It was also why I loved the Kasimasi Radio; sometimes the content was boring but you always got the feeling that Kana, Yukarin and Hocchan were really enjoying themselves doing the show. There was one episode where they were fighting over strawberries on Yukari’s birthday cake, and Yukarin kept screaming ‘Ichigo dorobo!!’ at Hocchan, it was funny. Yui then tried to read out a listener’s mail and it was from this guy who said he liked to watch the Kasimasi anime every week fully naked. Which made them laugh even more ^^;
It wouldn’t be a bad idea for an Utaware theatre show would it? Koyama Tsuyoshi is also a theatre veteran. Wonder what they’d do with Mukkuru though.
I’m a girl, but listening to male seiyuu doing radio generally drives me to sleep. I like seiyuu like Takahashi Hiroki and Konishi Katsuyuki a lot, but I listened to some of their radio shows and I was soooo bored.
I guess I don’t fit into the stereotypical BL/bishonen loving fangirl type; in fact I prefer the yuri-infused stuff…. I think it was Marimite that got me into all that \^o^/ Don’t worry about blabbing on, that’s what all bloggers tend to do lol.

Not sure if you already heard about this. There’s a special live Utawaremono Radio&TH2 Radio joint broadcast event on April 22nd! Obviously that would mean personalities from both program hosting together but also with…Koyama Tsuyoshi and Suara in the mix.^^ That should be pretty fun to listen although I’m not sure whether they’d broadcast on the net later on or not.

This week’s Utararerumono used Tsuyoshi-san’s Utawarerumono song in the opening.^^ Just want to let you know if you wanna check it out.

So I heard ^^; it was as ‘good’ as I thought it’d be ^^;;;;;; Did enjoy reading Tsuyoshi’s blog entries about all the cast members (+ Suara) who recorded backing vocals. Only 3 more weeks to go til its release!

Just checked out the blog a bit mysef after you mentioning that. I totally didn’t know alot of the cast are singing in it also. Very fun blog especially the one about Namikawa Daisuke as we all know he can’t really sing.^^; He sure is doing really well though for a seiyuu doesn’t rely on singing… Then again he’s been doing that for long time now since he was a kid in stuff like Gundam 0080.
After knowing that so many members are in that CD, I understand why in the radio Yuzuki and Koyama were joking about it might get into Oricon since their radio CD did that last year even though there’s no songs…^^; By the way, in Utawarerummono Radio, they still didn’t say what or whether Rikiya did get Yuzuki-san something or not for White day. I’m really curious still.

Ack I missed the ToHeart2 and Utawarerumono Joint radio!! T_T
…you wouldn’t happen to have it by any chance would you?
What did you think of it anyways? I remember Yuzu-chan getting jealous at Rikiya because of Yurishii’s attire in a later program…
