Minami-ke DVD 1 Seiyuu Event Special -Starchild Collection 2007-

Since my bank balance is still too low to enable me to buy DVDs, I thank the gods (and pirates) for rips, Nico Nico Douga and Youtube. Anyway, I’d seen a digest of it on Nicovideo already but finally got to watch the full half-hour special of STARCHILD Collection 2007’s Minami-ke segment held at Shibuya O-East on 27th October last year. It was pretty fun show hosted by Anispa presenter/music producer Washizaki Takeshi and featuring the seiyuu for the three main Minami girls (Inoue Marina, Chihara Minori & Satou Rina from L-R in the picture above) plus Fujioka (Kakihara Tetsuya) and Hosaka (Ono Daisuke).

Ono-D was obviously the highlight of the event, with his many deadpan jokes and imitations of Hosaka. He also managed to poke fun at Washizaki Takeshi and his musical aspirations (Poaro is Take-chan’s group’s name).

There was a segment where Washizaki asked each seiyuu if they were anything like the character they voiced - Ono Daisuke claimed not, but everyone else went ‘Ehhhhhh’. Inoue Marina said that when she told that Ono had been cast as Hosaka, her first reaction was ‘ピッタリ!’ (Perfect!) Ono went to relate how during auditions, all the other seiyuu who tried out for the role of Hosaka went ‘Psssst. I’m disappointed to say this, but that’s (the legendary) Ono Daisuke’, implying that they had absolutely no chance of getting the role with him present. Kakihara said he’d tried out for Hosaka too, but the sound director told him he wasn’t ‘kimochi warui’ (disgusting) enough.

Satou Rina claimed to be nothing like Haruka either, but her two younger ’sisters’ insisted otherwise despite her vehement protests. Washizaki made the mistake of calling her an ‘oka-san character’ to which she countered Hang on, I’m still young!!! (Satou is 26 years old). But Rina did talk a bit about her own position as the eldest child in her family (she has a younger brother) so she did understand Haruka’s own feelings towards Kana and Chiaki.

Inoue said ‘Yeah I’m like Kana’ to which Washizaki instantly replied ‘Kimochi warui!!’ and Marina tried to deflect the insult onto Ono Daisuke’s Hosaka only to have it sent back at her. It was really funny how Ono pretended to open his shirt and called out to Marina to ‘Come to me!!’

Back to the original question, Inoue said she was probably a little ‘baka’ like Kana - Washizaki asked ‘In what way?’ and she went on to say that just before the event she had managed to drop her mobile phone in the toilet bowl. And Marina also proceeded to demonstrate her own version of the teardrop mouth (below)

And when asked if there was any other role in Minami-ke she’d like to do, Marina said NO. Cos she doesn’t want to say Bakayaro~~~

Minorin unsurprisingly said she was nothing like Chiaki, with Kakky going on to say that ‘It’d be worrisome if you were anything like Chiaki’. The only similar point she could find was that like Chiaki, she is really fond of her older sister (and her younger brother). Hilariously, Washizaki asked Minorin if she was as smart as Chiaki (he used the word 理詰め - rizume which means logic) but she didn’t understand the question, showing off her ‘dumb blonde’ side. And with everybody else laughing, Take-chan withdrew his question - ‘So I guess you’re not’.

Kakky didn’t have many similarities to Fujioka, except their love for soccer. And he didn’t get asked a lot of questions either, the poor guy was completely outshined by Ono Daisuke.

After that, the 3 Minami sisters performed the opening and ending themes, first teaching the crowd the hand movements for Keikenchi Joshochu so they could do them along to the song. The girls are all competent live performers; Satou was probably the shakiest of the trio but still better than a lot of seiyuu out there.

At least they didn’t lip-synch! After all, they did have to dance around on stage quite a bit. They talked a bit after the first song about the radio show Minakike, and how it was almost like a ‘free talk’ show - a bit like the anime itself really. Eventhough I don’t actually like Colorful Days itself, I loved the live performance of it - mainly cos all three of them were so… cute doing their little actions and waves throughout the song.

It was time for the event to come to a close, with the 5 seiyuu giving the usual messages of thanks. Ono Daisuke of course, was given the opportunity to end the show and he didn’t disappoint with a madcap D.A.I.S.U.K.I., Daisuki!!! in place of M-i-n-a-m-i-k-e. Great show, and a must-watch for anyone who likes the seiyuu involved, particularly Ono-D fans.

Finally got the chance to watch the DVD and man, this was great. I love how they railed on Ono in jest but he took it like a man.

BTW on the R2 release, they did good with the LE in including a box to hold all of first season’s DVDs. LOL plus it has Hosaka taking off his shirt which is always hilarious.

She was asked if they were to make a RL drama of Minamike would she want to play as Kana and Marina said no because she doesn’t want to be called a bakayaro, even though she insisted she’s like Kana when the seiyuu got asked whether they were like the characters they played.

I still haven’t quite grasp Marina’s fascination of wanting to be a dojikko yet. XD

    LOL. Guess I wasn’t listening properly >_<

No, I don’t get why the heck Marina wants to be a dojikko either. Probably something to do with the fact that she knows she can’t do cute, moe-type voices.

Ono Daisuke never fails to entertain me! Calling him a talented seiyuu really is just scratching the surface with him.

Oooooh, I didn’t know that Minami-ke had a seiyuu event. I’m gonna go youtube it right now. :D Have there been any other Minami-ke events?
