Moetan Listening Radio #2 + Moetan 01

Reaction to the anime has been pretty mixed so far, I guess most people were expecting laugh-out-loud Engrish . I found it rather amusing myself, though I doubt that I’m part of the intended audience since I am:

1. Not into little girls (in a perverted way).
2. Not into pantyshots.
3. Not into ducks (or other animals).
4. A girl.

Episode 01

I like mahou shoujo shows (Card Captor Sakura is my all-time favourite anime), though I wouldn’t reeaallly wanna label Moetan that since Ink’s superpowers are limited and she’s not saving the world from some evil forces that are threatening to deprive Planet Earth of its supply of chocolate covered strawberries. Instead she is going to ‘help people’ with her magic, which probably means she’s going to face off against the Killer Basketball Heads with her deadly mix of Ultra Max Loli Power and Butiful English. Scary!

So it’s got less Engrish than most people would like. But who cares, the whole show is just an advertisement for the Moetan line of goods anyway. I like that it can poke fun at itself, and I am eagerly awaiting to see if the animation quality will drop next episode.

And of course being a seiyuu fan, I can’t pass up on Yukarin, Onosaka, Haruka-tan & Rika-tan. Nakata Jouji’s cameo in episode 1 as the dandy dude with a stupid goatee made me giggle.

Moetan Listening Radio #2
This week’s Learn English part of the radio show was rather mundane, featuring two phrases that probably wouldn’t challenge first graders:

1. Welcome home, master!

-Okaeri nasai, Goshujin-sama! Since Morinaga Rika’s character Ruriko is a maid I suppose. I agree with both Tomatsu & Morinaga that the phrase sounds better in Japanese.
2. This is priority one!

-I’m sure most of you will know where this is from. 最優先事項よ! (Saiyuusen jikou yo!). Just imagine (forever 17) Inoue Kikuko saying it….. Rika was aiming for a Kiko-tan like voice but totally failed ^^;But yeah, I’ll continue watching the anime for now though…. if only to see more of the henshin sequences, more technically correct but sounds bad anyway Engrish and more Sumi. And to get some maid action. I just need to turn off my brain next time.
