PV watch
I never really bothered watching PVs but it seemed in the past week or so there’ve been a steady stream of new ones from some of my fave artists which resulted in me going on a PV downloading spree. And with Youtube it’s so easy to get hold of them these days…. a few years ago it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Ah, the wonders of technology….
Shiawase. aiko

A happy aiko song!! I’d almost forgotten how much I love her music. It’s not the most exciting video, just aiko prancing around on a beach with the band but it’s a nice and sunny song and reminds me that summer is nearly here! Even if it doesn’t feel like it - still only 14°C here….

Sorairo Days. Nakagawa Shoko

Stand around and look pretty, that’s what Shoko-tan does best. Not particularly interesting PV either…. I don’t think you should play that guitar, Shoko - you’ll break your nails. The single itself is still some way off yet.
Release date: 27th June 2007
biscuit. YUKI

So, with a song called biscuit what do you fill the PV with? Shots of YUKi eating biscuits, two wrestlers wearing biscuit…. head thingies facing off, a guy pushing a ‘Human’ biscuit along the beach….yeap, welcome to the wonderful weird world of YUKI PVs. The song’s not bad either.

everyhome. Onitsuka Chihiro

After waiting so long for Onitsuka’s return, what I’d like to say is that this is fantastic and well worth the 2 1/2 year wait. But I’d be lying of course, cos I don’t like everyhome. It’s boring and doesn’t really go anywhere for me - but the fact that she’s back making music is good. I’m sure I’ll buy her releases regardless; when I first found her INSOMNIA album in a tiny music shop in my hometown 5 years ago (where Jpop CDs are almost non-existant) I was literally jumping for joy. There’s really no one quite like Chihiro out there.

Dare yori suki na no ni. Sowelu

Cover of a Toko Furuuchi song. Not the world’s most exciting PV, just footage of Sowelu on the beach, in the car etc. I do like her ballads though so this was a chance to check the song out a long while before its release.
Release date: 20th June 2007
The World. 9mm Parabellum Bullet

How boring are rock PVs generally? Very much so, unless you’ve got some avant-garde director doing some weird concept video; it’s usually just the band members rocking around with their instruments. Yawn.

Ashita tenki ni naare. Yuzu

Ooh I love this song! How can you resist a PV that contains bright flowers, cute little kids, dogs and cats? Nice and summery.
Release date: 23rd May 2007
Jasmine. V6

It’s not one of their best ballads but I’m a sucker for V6’s cheese ^^;
