Radio Shows Scribblings #3
These are mostly shows from the previous 2 weeks, I only just had time to check out a couple since things are quite busy (work-wise) these few days. Will be catching up with the rest over the weekend.
Radio Love Root Zero from Labyrinth #29
- Hosted by Kakihara Tetsuya & Asakawa Yuu for the drama CDs based on the shojo manga, this time the guest was semi-regular Shimono Hiro
- They both sounded like zombies & kept complaining about the early start (recording started at 10am)
- Asakawa kept talking about her recent holiday in Hawaii (I guess she went with her hubby Morikubo?)
- Love Root Zero is getting a PS2 game called… Love Root Zero KissKiss☆Labyrinth. Ren’ai game, and as the name suggests, expect a lot of kissing scenes lol.
——–
Asakawa: Apparently it’s kissing, kissing and more kissing?
Kakky: Even kissing random passers-by?
Hiro: Oi what are you, some foreigner?
Kakky: All kissing? So if (they) start arguing because ‘Your kissing sucks!!’ then I guess when they make up it’s also by kissing?
Asakawa: I would like to let the listeners know that off-air, Kakihara-kun asked “Is kissing only allowed on the lips?”
Hiro: Where else would you like to kiss? Kakky, name three other body parts one can kiss.
Kakky: I like kissing foreheads… and earlobes are OK too… and er… how ’bout the tailbone? [cue hysterical laughter from everyone, especially Asakawa]
——–
- lol Asakawa is naughty. There was a Love Root event coming up (now past) and she called for fans to turn up and show off their ‘violent headbanging’ and encouraged people to drink beer.
Tamura Yukari no Itazura Kuro Usagi #293
- Yukarin is sick (you can hear it from her voice) so she ate some Chinese herbal medication but it made her feel even more sick.
- Her sense of humour is still intact thankfully
- she was unable to read 全て (subete) and kept going mo.. mo.. matta… [she misread it as 全く - mattaku]
- Yukarin made her whole entourage late for the shinkansen to her recent Nagoya leg of her festival because she either overslept or just spent too much time playing about with her hair. She’s always late and/or getting lost isn’t she?
- lol. A listener asked Yukarin if she had ever participated in a 野点 (nodate), which is an open-air tea ceremony, but she didn’t know what the word meant & defined as 野 as in 野球 (baseball) and 点 (point) so she thought it was some baseball thing. Eventhough the mail also mentioned related words like 茶席 (chaseki - tea ceremony seat) & 和菓子 (wagashi - Japanese sweets).
- lmao - there is a segment of Kuro Usagi called Manga Nihon Yukaribanashi where a listener sends in a suggested title of a fairytale & Yukarin has to tell a story based on the title for 30 seconds. This time the suggestion was ‘絡み難鶩の子’ (the duck that couldn’t get along with others) and she… spent the whole half minute quacking.
- hosted by Fujiwara Keiji, guest was Orikasa Fumiko. I didn’t expect to enjoy this much (maybe because I dislike Hyakko?), and because (no offence) but Orikasa makes a very dull radio personality/guest but Fujiwara was very entertaining.
- Fujiwara got all embarassed when Orikasa told him to call her Oririn
- There was a corner made up of just mini-games, fun!
- Game 1: animal shiritori game = tora-rakko-koala-llama-mantohihi-hiyoko (tiger-sea otter-koala-llama-baboon-chick)
- Game 2: match the answer = if the two seiyuu give the same answer to a question then they clear. Question was ‘what is a staple item you find in miso soup?’ they both answered ‘wakame’ (seaweed)
- Game 3: guess the word. Fujiwara = people bringing bento… Orikasa: ‘picnic’.
- Game 4: Tongue Twister Cooperation = they each said a line of the ‘kaeru pyokopyoko’ tongue twister & succeeded.
- Game 5: monomane (Imitation) game - Orikasa imitates somebody & Fujiwara has to guess who it is. The person in question was Edo Harumi LOL. I suppose Oririn stuck out her thumb & said ‘gu,gu,gu,gu’. Fujiwara got it eventually.
- Game 6: guess the song - Fujiwara has to whistle a tune & Orikasa has to guess what song it is. lol, Fujiwara whistling the Star Spangled Banner!
- Game 7: match the answer #2. Question ‘what is most popular ingredient of oden. Oririn answered egg, I can’t hear what Fujiwara said but it was different.
- Game 8: guess the word #2. Word was Koto (a ward in Tokyo) - Oririn could only give the clues ‘it is on the Tozai line’ & ‘it has a river’ which baffled Fujiwara, who started singing Misora Hibari’s Kawa no Nagare no Youni lol
- Game 9: vocabulary game - think of 8 words that fulfil this requirement ‘a _ n’ lol at Fujiwara’s ‘anpan’ & ‘anpanman’ but they still failed with only 4 answers
- Game 10: Tongue Twister Cooperation #2 = lol @ the infamous ‘Tokyo tokkyo kyoka kyoku kyoku cho’ tongue twister. Oririn tried twice & failed twice. I once heard Domoto Tsuyoshi say it perfectly (on Domoto Kyodai) though!
- Game 11: monomane game #2 - I had no idea what comedian or whoever it was that Fujiwara was imitating, he said he’d never even seen that person before.
- Game 12: guess the song #2 - I totally lol’ed listening to Orikasa struggling to whistle Khachaturian’s Sabre Dance. Fujiwara knew the tune but not the name, unsurprisingly (it’s called Tsurugi no Mai in Japanese).
- Game 13: match the answer #3 - what is the most popular animal at the zoo? they both answered ‘panda’
Total: 7 out of 13. They are aiming for 100 (hyakko) cleared games, so only another 93 to go…
- they were asked what sort of students they used to be. Orikasa:
- was the vice-president of the student council, played keyboards in the light music club
- Princess Princess & Unicorn (Okuda Tamio’s old band) were the popular bands during her school days
- she says that she & a bunch of other girls formed a band & wanted to play Beatles songs but got stuck rehearsing Help! (ironic song choice) & eventually gave up
- she played the electron & used to do tuning for the group’s instruments. Originally she was supposed to be the drummer but the band found that the pixie-ish Oririn ‘was buried under the drum set’ lol
- next episode will feature Neya Michiko as guest, wooh!
- hosted by Asano Masumi & Hirohashi Ryo
- they spent some time talking about their hometowns (Masumin is from Akita, Ryo from Niigata), which are agricultural areas
- Masumin asked Ryo how long it took her to get to her neighbour’s house & Ryo answered ‘It will be faster if you go through the cemetery’. Masumin wondered why rural areas had so many cemeteries & Ryo answered ‘Well, we (my family) lived in a temple’. [Hirohashi's dad is a Buddhist priest]
- Ryo says the house/temple is easily big enough to fit 10 guests; has a cellar, guest rooms etc
- they both say they never saw a kombini or McDonalds until they were 12-13 years old. McDonalds didn’t open their first branch in my hometown until I was around 10 so I totally understand their feelings!
- haha, they mentioned the ‘Ringo Starr won’t sign anymore autographs‘ incident
- befitting of the show’s name, there is a segment consisting of quiz games. This episode’s winner: Masumin by 7 to 0.

Mizuki Nana did make her appearance on Wakamoto Norio’s Iyasare Bar #25 as scheduled, but I haven’t listened to it yet. Might cover it in the next round if it’s interesting…

Is… is that really Asakawa Yuu in that picture? She looks so young!
I guess I’ve never heard Orikasa on any other radio show other than Bleach B Station. That one was pretty funny.

I like Orikasa Fumiko as a radio host, she has a nice calming voice but a deceptively ドS streak. She is quite entertaining on the Druaga radio along with KENN.
Quiz Magic Academy is pretty amazing - more specifically, Asano Masumi is amazing as she seems to have a knack for completely destroying any quiz type questions they throw at her. Or maybe she looks good because Hirohashi is just that bad XD

No Ga-Rei radio this week?
November 15th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Check out Yukarin’s latest interview on Pick-Up Voice. Its quite funny how she was almost late for a flight because she misread the flight timing.

@BlazeZero
Indeed it is Asakawa
@Jigga
Masumin always has answers (right, wrong or just plain stupid) to everything. She’s rude, crude & hilarious & I like it that way. Ryo OTOH, is just.. spaced-out.
@Kurogane
No juicy titbits or info about the seiyuu or the Ga-Rei anime either, hopefully today’s show will be better.
It just wasn’t very interesting this week
@PPP
I’ve come to the conclusion that Yukarin never reads anything properly xD

Kissing the tailbone? I got flashbacks of Mamiko and Ayako with their delicious cake moment…

@j1m0ne
lolz~ That’s the cute thing about her~ Was kinda hoping to be able to attend one of her autograph/poster signing sessions or concerts for one of my future trips to Japan though.
Can’t get the ‘look’ in her eyes outta my head! Argh~~~~

Hi, long time reader, first time comment-leaver.
*next episode will feature Neya Michiko as guest*
I just wanted to enjoin you to blog this as well just to help confirm or refute my impression, based on the interviews with them on the Eureka Seven DVD extras, that Neya and Fujiwara not only don’t get on, they actively hate each other’s guts. I may be mistaken… but someone else’s insight would be appreciated.

Hi! I’m a fan of your blog posts. I’m glad you updated a bit about Asakawa Yuu. I’m a die-hard Asakawa fan and I hope you can update more on her! ^^
Thank you for all the seiyuu information! They’re interesting!
