Sayonara Blogger…..
A bit of a lull in posting over the last week, but you now know the reason why. I’ve finally moved from wretched Blogger!
Seriously, I’ve been fed up and bored with all of Blogger’s shortcomings for ages but my technophobia prevented me from making a move. Plus, I didn’t want to pay for my own hosting, being a cheapskate economist and all
And sorry to all the people who hated the comments hack I used on Blogger, which sometimes forced the whole commenting box to pop up instead of showing up underneath the post (blame your slow connection!)
But I’ve got a job now, so I can afford hosting and I’ve decided to give all the css/php/html stuff a go, so watch me crash & burn! And excuse me if something goes awry over the next week or so, I’m a total Wordpress virgin -_-
The biggest obstacle I faced was importing my older posts over from Blogger to Wordpress - for some reason none of my posts from the end of June to the end of September last year made the move, so I had to manually publish them (the ones I felt were important anyway) - which of course meant I lost all the comments in the process. Alas, that period of posts included all those death threats I received from Kaiji fans!
Another annoying thing was the fact that the ’Read More’ hack I used to use no longer worked, so I had to apply the <- more - > code to the majority of my almost 200 posts. A royal pain in the arse. Some of my earlier posts using different layouts are still messed up, but I hope to fix those soon.
(Un)fortunately, I also decided against automatically redirecting all my links from Blogger to the new site because 1)I don’t care about losing my Googlerank & all that egoistical stuff 2)I don’t have the will to do it (a lot of my old permalinks are messed up).
Therefore, my sincerest apologies for inconveniencing any of my loyal readers (all 3 of you) by forcing you to update your bookmarks and RSS feeds but hey, look on the bright side. Now, I’ve paid up for hosting you can be confident that I’ll be bringing you more posts for at least one more year \[^o^]/
よろしくお願いします!

First! Just want to congratulate you on your move to Wordpress and a self-hosted domain (but what’s “atemonai” anyway? “ate money”? “ate mon ai”?), and I’m sorry to hear you had to go through all that trouble in order to make the move. Hope that doesn’t stop you from experimenting more with it though, since there’s way more functionality now that you’re on the only blogging platform that matters.
Feel free to ask if there’s anything you need when it comes to plugins — you’ll be surprised at what those things can do. (:

Yikes! Seems to be a hell lot of trouble to move from blogger to wordpress, now I’m worried… Wanted to blog using wordpress for a while now, but “.blogspot” looked better than “.wordpress” for my blog and I definitely don’t have the means to get my own domain so I stuck with Blogger despite its shortcomings T.T Anyways, best of luck with wordpress!!

This is a nice change.
It was always interesting how when I clicked the link from AnimeNano, I would just get the comments from your latest post and that was it. I’m glad to see that I don’t have to worry about that now. :3

I think I mentioned it in passing before but anyway, “ate mo nai” - 当てもない basically means aimless, random or directionless - which was what was the blog was like when I first started it ^^;

Congratulations on your move! I always say it’s worth it for the pingbacks alone, but then I’ve never tried to use Blogger (though I’ve noticed that Blogger’s very popular with older bloggers here in the UK - mostly political bloggers, come to think of it).

What, no pictures of seiyuu in this post, FAIL.
Hahaha.
Seriously though, I hope you continue this blogging thing. And I like the current format of being able to read (and comment!) your posts without leaving my Google Reader. I hated “Read More” plus you don’t have any advertising to justify it.
And count me as well for the comment only screen bug.

Congrats on going solo with hosting! Honestly, while it may be scary in the beginning, as time goes on and you pick up on stuff, you’ll realize how much *better* it is than before.
I definitely know your pain of moving when I did so a few years back. Copying and pasting all my old entries from moveable type to wordpress took like 1/2 a day!
Anyway can’t wait for your next latest and greatest entry

*laments the loss of Akari* T_T
Congratulations on the blog move! I’m looking forward to reading more of your posts. Please fill my brain with as much trivial seiyuu info as you can!

The only thing I have trouble with WP is getting Nico iframes to show up, but I’ll probably leave the .com site for my own once I get a part-time job. Shows up on blogspot, for some reason..
But hay, there were times when Google had server failures when I tried accessing blogspot, so good choice on getting your own domain! Maybe we can see something on the index page in the near future?

Still fumbling about with the layout today, but things are going well so far…. and fixed up a temp index page too
My next entry will be incredibly bloated, rest assured….
>Neo Horizon
Seeing Akari everytime I loaded the blog reminded me that the ARIA manga is over T_T So I decided to stop with the theme before I got too depressed….

Hi there! I hope this blog turn out to be as good as your last one. I am one of those “3 readers” you have xD, it’s just that I never wrote a single word about your posts. Now that you moved I thought about changing that behaviour. Keep up the good work!

Is importing the old posts a difficult task? I considered moving to Wordpress…

Importing posts is a cinch in theory - takes a few seconds. However as I mentioned, some of my posts didn’t get imported for whatever reason, I still haven’t quite figured out why out. Also, images don’t get imported so you have to use a separate plugin for that. It doesn’t work 100% though, which can get pretty exasperating. And of course, the ‘Read More’ hack :/
Otherwise, it took about 1-2 days’ worth of groundwork - ironing out kinks in the layout & that sort of boring stuff. I wouldn’t really bother moving from Blogger to a free Wordpress blog but if you’re thinking of getting your own hosting, by all means. It’s pretty cool getting to customise the site more
