Let me speculate - usually seiyuu attend auditions for major roles in anime around early on - about 4-6 months(?) in advance of its actual airdate. Her former agency Voice&Heart was winding down towards the end of 2007 and I believe Marina was spending more time shopping around for a new deal with another agency rather than going to auditions. She was already cast in Toshokan Senso sometime last year (she mentioned it in her blog). Of course that is merely my own opinion, but if you would notice - one of Marina's former V&H colleagues Asumi Kana has no roles at all for shows starting this spring.
