Susume! Kyoran Denpa Nikki 07-08

Back to regular programming now, starting with a clearing of the Kyoran Kazoku Nikki radio show coverage backlog.

Denpa Nikki 07

The girls’ dinner was takeaway kamameshi from Kamatora. The ‘kama’ part of kamameshi refers to the iron pot the dish is cooked in - it’s just rice (meshi) topped with an assortment of things - prawns, chicken, veg etc etc.

The weekly draw of the ending themes was done by janken (Rock Paper Scissors) this time. Sato Rina won the first one, which is why Gekka was the ending for TVK last week.

A picture of Kyoka-sama drawn by Kitamura Eri…except she signed her name as パンストヲタ (stockings otaku) at the bottom.

This week’s game was called ‘NG Onigokko’ - the show was divided into four separate free talk sections of 5-7 minutes each, and there were four NG (No Good) keywords that Fujimura Ayumi and Sato Rina were NOT allowed to say during those segments. Only the listeners were told what the words were, and their job was to send in mails giving the two hosts topic conversations that were supposed to allow them to avoid saying those NG keywords. At the same time, if they successfully cleared each zone they would collect clues towards guessing a final mystery word.

The words
1. 楽しい (tanoshii;fun)
-The first topic that came up was about learning to drive - so far so good, I don’t think you’d associate the word tanoshii with the subject much. We learn that Sato Rina only owns a gentsuki license (license for scooters under 50cc), Fujimura has no licenses at all. The conversation moved on to ID (driving licenses are common forms of ID in Japan), and Ayu said she uses her insurance card as ID eventhough it doesn’t have a picture on it. Rina suggested a passport, but Ayu doesn’t have one either - she’s never been outside Japan.
-The second topic was about movies or TV shows that they’d been watching recently, lol. Oh you naughty listener, you’re obviously aiming to make them say tanoshii. But anyway, Rina went on to talk about Final Destination (anyone remember that film? ^^) and Ayu about The Green Mile. But they managed to reach the end of the 5 minutes without saying tanoshii. The clue they got for their troubles was ‘100′.

2. Nicknames (excluding listener and host nicknames) - that means no saying things like Lion-san, Kana-chan etc.
-The first topic was ‘the most interesting friend you’ve met in your life’. But before they even got to talking about it, Fujimura Ayumi said Ryo-chan (referring to Hirohashi Ryo) and they failed the second section.

3. Place Names
-They got perilously close to saying place names thanks to the first topic ‘my ideal home’ & a story about trains but managed to skirt away at the nick of time. Some of the listeners decided to be kind and gave them easier topics like ’stress relief methods’, and Sato Rina busted out her ‘I watch KAT-TUN DVDs’ confession >_> She’s part of the KAT-TUN seiyuu fan brigade that includes Nabatame Hitomi, Hirohashi Ryo & Shitaya Noriko >_> <_< Sorry, Johnny’s fans. I hate KAT-TUN #%&^!@ But they managed to get to the end of the 5 minutes unscathed. The clue they got this time was ‘Tokyo, Aomori’.

4. 面白い (omoshiroi;interesting)
-The listeners are getting increasingly cruel, sending in talk themes like ‘TV variety shows’, ‘what I do at home’ and ‘my plans for tomorrow’. But they ended up missing the 7 minute target by 3 measly seconds when Fujimura Ayumi said 面白すぎて (omoshirosugite) when talking about expensive things they had bought recently.

So with just 100 and Tokyo, Aomori as clues, they tried to guess the mystery word. They tried ‘Shinkansen’ (bullet train) but that was completely wrong. The show’s staff decided to give them one last chance and broadcast the word to the listeners, who would then send in mails with hints to get them on the right track. The clues listeners sent in included USA, the one place you’d want to see in America etc and wooh, Fujimura Ayumi got the answer at last. The final word was… 自由の女神 (The Statue of Liberty) ^^;; There are replicas in Odaiba and Aomori, hence the earlier clue.

Er..omake drawing from the two girls. I have no idea WTF what all that crap is. Annoyingly, they played Kyoran Senki~Nichijo no Kamisama 4 TIMES during the show. I think I absolutely hate the song now…

Tonight’s meal was ekiben from Nagoya. They had a guest this time - Hirohashi Ryo, voice of Hyoka, who claims to be ‘almost alien’ but is still ‘lacking proof that I’m an alien’. I get the feeling that alcohol has addled her brain again…

The theme of this week’s show was Space and the mail topic was ‘Ways to Call out a UFO’ >_> So the latter part of the show was recorded on the Bunka Hoso building roof, trying to get the UFOs to come out >_> But anyway, before that they decided the following week’s ending themes by playing some sort of shooting (射的) game.

Ways to Get a UFO to Appear (sent in by listeners):
1.Face towards sky, lift arms and shout Ru!!!
-Sato Rina thought this was a reference to Ruko from ToHeart2.
2.With a group of people, form a circle, hold hands and shout Bentora!
-Is this a Star Wars reference? I have no idea.
3.Do squats on a rooftop facing the sky and shout Oka-san! Oka-san! (Mother!Mother!)
-The girls were worried that they might get kidnapped by aliens if they did that >_>
4.Wiggle your body about and shout ‘ABDUCTION!!’
-I wouldn’t recommend that.
5.String a bunch of 50 yen coins together and start spinning them around to make some noise
6.Sing a love song to the UFO
-Hirohashi made one up on the spot. The lyrics were:
UFO UFO ピポピポ UFO (UFO UFO Pipopipo UFO)
ここは親善大使の巣 (This is the Goodwill Ambassador’s nest!)
7.Do a dogeza

Before they went up to the rooftop, they had to choose a goodwill ambassador to represent the human race just in case the aliens appeared >_> They did a little roleplay game, with Hirohashi Ryo fittingly, being the alien and Fujimura Ayumi & Sato Rina taking turns to draw cards. The cards had hypothetical alien-related situations written on, and whoever did the best in those situations would get to represent us humans.

Rina’s card was ‘If you were alone in a secret room with an alien and it suddenly touched your buttocks, what would you do?’ >_> So Ryo being the alien, used some voice changing thing and started asking Rina if she could touch her bum >_> Ayu’s was about telling ‘alien-related jokes or puns’ and she said アルミ缶の上にある蜜柑 (Arumikan no ue ni aru mikan - literally means ‘there’s an orange on top of the aluminium can’)…it’s supposed to be some lame oyaji pun -_- It didn’t make Hirohashi laugh either so Sato Rina won the right to represent homosapiens.

They also made Rina eat loads of umeboshi to attract aliens because they’re apparently, alien’s favourite food.

The view from the roof. Funnily, before they went up they played a song from Keroro Gunso…I guess it’s the alien frog connection?

Cellotape >_> So the order of the stupid things they had to do - swing the 50-yen string around whilst wiggling your body, then sing the UFO love song, then shout Oka-san!! and do a dogeza -_-

That’s how they sounded like when they tried to get the UFOs to come…I hope they release a DVD with the video footage for this! And er, they claimed to see yakisoba-shaped UFOs. I think they looked a bit like what you see in the picture below.

But still, this was a bloody brilliant episode. Hirohashi Ryo is a genius! Next week’s show will probably be even more chaotic as the guest will be Hanazawa Kana, whose brain is probably more screwed than Ryo’s is. Otanoshimini!

    Petrouchka:

I thought episode 7 looked interesting when reading your comments, but the UFO calling out thing was just hilarious. I sure hope we get some video footage one day.
    Thanks for the summaries !

    Gains:

The “Bentora” chant is also from ToHeart2. I think it’s in the TV series.

Looks like the Kyouran Radio is always interesting. Enjoyed reading your posts.
