The Life and Times of Inoue Marina #3

OMG, I haven’t done one of these posts for what seems like ages. Doesn’t help that Marina-related anime news pieces have been few and far between following her switch over to Sigma 7 at the start of the year. Her blog updates are coming rather slowly too, it makes me wonder if she really is that busy or maybe she’s just gotten lazy >_>

There’s been a 5-month gap since TLAT…#2 in January. I fail T_T But there’s enough crap in here to last Marina fans a while, so hopefully it’ll keep you entertained til the next installment (hopefully before November).

Anyway, some thoughts on how Marina has been doing since she moved to Sigma 7:
-She’s been doing a lot more…mainstream-type anime shows. I’m not enamoured with
-Instead of focusing on just anime though, Marina’s been branching out into video games & drama CDs. Why does that sound a lot like what Mizuki Nana does?
-Not enough singing. Where’s her recording deal, Starchild? Or am I not paying enough attention.

I’m trying to cover as much of her activities over the last few months as possible, but obviously not gonna get everything in (like those karaoke sessions with Fujita Saki, or a date with Shiraishi Ryoko etc)…

Ookiku Furikabutte event (17th February)
Despite being held on a freezing Sunday, around 400 people had already started gathering at 9am although the event was only scheduled to start at 2:30pm. This was apparently Marina’s first time being involved in an event that had an overwhelmingly female crowd. All the AbeMiha fans, no doubt.

A backstage photo taken with Misaton (Fukuen Misato) and Yonaga Wing (aka Yonaga Tsubasa). Marina commented that of the 3 people in the picture, Wing-kun had the most girly pose. She probably means that he looks really gay.

Tokyo Anime Festival (29th/30th March)

Kite Liberator

I guess a few people will have watched it by now. I still haven’t found the time for it yet, and I watched the original Kite so long ago I can barely remember what happened. There was some sex, I think. Anyway, Marina also sang the ending theme for the OVA but I have yet to find the full version (short of actually buying it) so if anyone’s got something that’s longer than 2 minutes and ain’t ripped from the end credits, send it along ^^; Picture above from OtaKitamura Eri’s blog.

Valentine’s day chocolate?

A picture of a minorythm-themed Tirol Chocolate that Chihara Minori (vainpot) gave Marina. She went on talking about how pretty Minorin was and that she couldn’t bear to eat it, and it was now sat on her shelf as a decoration.

Belated appearance on Anispa

A bout of influenza had led to Ono Daisuke pretending to be Inoue Marina on Anispa, but it seems the demand was enough that they invited her a second time. Marina did make the show this time around, and began by introducing herself as Ono Daisuke ^^ Her cancelled appearance was supposed to have been as part of the promotion for the Minami-ke:Okawari ending theme Sono Koe ga Kikitakute, but this time they had a rather vague theme revolving around some of her more famous roles. It was the first time Marina had spoken about her upcoming (at that point) role as Iku in Toshokan Senso. She also talked at length about some of her other characters, including Gurren Lagann’s Yoko and amusingly, Tekkonkinkreet’s ‘Takaramachi citizen’. It amused me that Marina did not know or remember the full name of the person who voiced Kuro in the movie… ‘Ninomiya nantoka’ (Ninomiya something-or-other). It was actually Ninomiya Kazunari, only a member of one of Japan’s biggest boybands (Arashi) so I guess Marina isn’t into Johnny’s.

10-hour movie/anime marathon…

…at Makino Yui’s place. They watched the SAW horror movies plus some Doraemon and Death Note. What did they eat for dinner? Food cooked by Mr. & Mrs. Makino >_> That’s Yui’s room up there.

Went to Shintani Ryoko’s live

Marina’s gotten pretty friendly with Zetsubo-sensei castmate Shintani Ryoko (voice of Hito Nami) of late, and went to her live event on 9 March with Sanada Asami (Matoi), another Zetsubo alumni. After the event, it was another yet Zetsubo reunion, with Marina and Asa-nee going for a meal with two others who had attended the concert – Matsuki Miyu (Fujiyoshi) and Tanii Asuka (Kiri Komori). Picture above from Miyu’s blog.

With the Minami-ke family

L-R: Chihara Minori,Morinaga Rika,Ohara Momoko,Asanuma Shintaro,Kitamura Eri,Marina
This was sometime in April, long after the show had ended. This is the karaoke party where KitaEri cornered Marina in a room and made her sing Beautiful Story to her I believe…

Went to Shoko-tan’s live

At JCB Hall on 7th June, along with an assortment of Gurren-dan members, including Asumi Kana, Saiga Mitsuki and marketing guy “Hige” Manabe. Picture from Gurren Lagann blog.

Somebody gave Marina a Yoko figurine

Apparently a Wafudo Yoko (after some Googling). Erm yeah. I’m not into figurines, so only figumaniacs can tell me whether this is a good one or whatever. Picture above from Akiba Hobby. Pic below is of Marina & Kakky fooling about with Yoko.

Other bits
Maria†Holic Mini Drama CD Mini Review:

So I vaguely remember covering this last year, but I’ve now read Vol.1 (+ part of Vol.2) of the manga and listened to the mini-drama CD. Ummmm… I’m still getting used to hearing the seiyuu fit into their respective roles but I do approve of them so far, although Hirano Aya’s Kanako (the one getting her boob groped above) sounds much older than I had envisioned, and sounds a lot like Nakahara Mai for some reason. Sawashiro Miyuki steals the whole damn show with her dangerously cute Dorm Mistress, but Marina’s ice-cool Matsurika isn’t far behind. Kobayashi Yu’s Mariya (the one doing the groping above) is just weird though. Oh, and if anyone’s ever mistakenly stumbled across the front page of my domain, that’s Sawashiro’s character from the manga. The full drama CD is out at the end of next month, and Moonphase lists a possible anime adaptation next year.

Upcoming stuff

They should’ve swapped Hayami & Kobayashi Yu around to complete the front-low sexy legs lineup…if you want to know the names of all the seiyuu in the picture, go here for a list.
Two supporting roles for Marina in the summer anime season - Mahou Tsukai etc and Sekirei. She’s singing the opening/ending themes with the other cast members for the latter (opening apparently includes some sort of dance) but I’m not fond of either song (you can hear them on the official site). I’m not watching Sekirei anyway *shrug*.

Marina also joins the cast of Negima for the Ala Alba OAD. NO, I’m not typing out the names of all 26 people in the picture (and sadly, yes - I recognise all of them -_-) I can tell you that the guys are Ono Daisuke & Akamatsu Ken and that Ito Shizuka & Noto Mamiko are missing.

OMG!!! Hocchan features in my blog, miracle!

A very nice coverage about Marina. Seriously, I am awed by your stalking skills XD. I’m actually looking forward in obtaining the console games listed above now that I know Inoue Marina is voicing inside XD. And yes, I hope she sings more. Her voice is good compared to alot of other seiyus. Hope to hear more about Inoue Marina in near future. Thanks for the info really. o/
And honestly, I was just….erm…reading casually….then your second last picture made me searching for you-know-who (because it’s a Negima cast picture and hey I even think I found you-know-who inside). And very honestly, your last picture made me grinned like an idiot. But I have a feeling you are putting that picture last on purpose…now I can’t sleep and I’m supposed to wake up for work at 6 am.
*Me goes on whispering…”casual looking Hoc-chan with a megane on top…”*

    danie~:

Awesome post, just what I wanted to lift up the mood before exam. I heard the new Kite is quite different from the old one, less violence and sex. I might include that in my next DVD orders..
She’s still together with Fujita huh, and +Shiraishi now.. maybe there will be time for her own harem? LOL.
@townberry: Senjo no Valkyria is awesome for SRPG lovers. And there’s Kuwashima Houko and Toyoguchi Megumi too (and Lelouch-clone). Waiting for the English (sub!) version to get the whole story..

    Vness:

Thank you for showing Marina some LOVE! I think she’s both a great actress and singer (the song Houseki from Le Portrait de Petit Cossette is amazing!). I love her as Chiri from Sayonara Zetsubou sensei. For a young seiyuu, she seems pretty busy, and she’s been in the business for only, what, a couple of years now? She needs to slooow dooooown! Oh, well, that’s show business for you. This post is the perfect end to a long weekend.

    A Day Without Me:

I love the fact that they mixed Doraemon with Saw and Death Note - kind of a bizarre selection.

Marina’s awesome - Vness is completely right about Houseki, and its awesomeness is only compounded by the fact that she was only nineteen years old when she recorded it. I also really liked Beautiful Story from Getsumen to Heiki Miina. I wish she would record some more music.

    issa-sa:

I don’t care about Yonaga looking gay, somebody get him out of Shi-. A. and put him in a decent role (like a second season of OoFuri! XD)
    *ahem* Back to Marina.
-Methinks she should’ve eaten the chocolate and kept the wrapper then. Geez, how can you pass up chocs???
-LOL SAW, Doraemon, Death Note - wtv they were smoking then, I want some :P
-ALL 26 of them?? Everyone should fear you in a seiyuu naming exam, j1m0ne XD
-I just realized Hocchan looks like my senpai’s host mom… random…
Okay so not much Marina in this comment - err… love her Kana, Chiri, and Iku (and even for some reason her Kanmuri from Yakitate - I just love the fact that it’s her voicing a pink haired guy XD)

…and that Ito Shizuka & Noto Mamiko are missing.

I think right at this moment they’re working on the 4th season of Marimite.

    >issa-sa
Yeah, more Oofuri would be good. And if there ever was a seiyuu face recognition exam, I’d beat the crap out of everyone else lol.

    >soul.assassin
Well so are Sato Rina & Saito Chiwa but they’re in the pic there heh :D In all fairness, Shizuka & Mamiko are two of the busiest ppl around so it’s not too surprising that they’re missing.

    (*A*)o~~~~~~<3 MARINA LUV!!!

fangirling overwith, great post! It’s great to have someone like you posting about Inoue Marina, since I have zero japanese reading skills… People like me depend on people like you to keep their lives going :D Thank you soooo much!

*wants to 10-hr-anime/movie-marathon with people too* but really, their choices are a little… bizarre at best :P

And if Maria†Holic becomes an anime, I will definitely be watching it. Seems to be totally worth it.

Oh, and on the subject of more Inoue Marina music; Total Unanimous Agreement (from my area, anyways XD) *hands up high*

    Yoruko:

Hey j1m0ne, I happen to have an article on Inoue Marina from the July issue of an anime magazine I bought in China…despite the fact i AM Chinese…my reading skills are very poor…you mentioned you were competent in Mandarin, so should I scan it in for you? :P

Ono Daisuke is such a dork. XD

Digital Comic Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu - Taneda Mayu (comes with Shojo Comic)

Oh, cool! I loved this manga and Mayu is a very awesome character. Quite fitting for Inoue Marina who does a lot of strong roles.
