Voting for Overseas Fan’s Choice Category in Third Seiyuu Awards Opens
I’m sure you’ve all read about there being a new category catering for gaijin seiyuu fans in the third Seiyuu Awards, and it’s already open right now.
As expected, details are very vague with no mention of any possible criteria to consider when nominating a seiyuu beyond who you think is the most memorable voice actor.
In that case, everyone should vote for Kaneda Tomoko cos there’s no bloody way anyone who’s ever heard KaneTomo’s voice or seen her drunk will be able to forget her anytime soon. Memorable indeed.
I was thinking of canvassing as many people as possible to vote for someone completely random like Neya Michiko or Fujiwara Keiji but nobody would listen anyway. Everyone wants to support their Kugyuu or their Noto-sama or their Aaya… anyway, I’ll just bugger the system up and vote for a really random person. Kobayashi Ai (the manageress who screams ‘Fuck’ and ‘my cunt is wet’ every other second in Detroit Metal City) was my first choice but I er… opted for the safer choice of Kaneda Tomoko in the end. Safer… I think?
Who are y’all voting for?

LOL, nice vote.
I’m a little torn to say the least. There’s just so many to choose from; what you suggest is an easy way out and Tomoko Kaneda is awesome anyways. But safe to say I’m not voting kugyuu, aaya or noto-sama.

I’m voting for Koshimizu Ami for her role as Yeager in Strike Witches, and tons of other great roles (Gunslinger Girls, Code Geass, Spice and Wolf)

Mizuki Nana, who else? XDD
November 29th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Yeah Nana Mizuki : )
November 29th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Neya Michiko.

I’m gonna stick with Hoc-chan for her role for Byakko. A small role but I like her evil voice…Furthermore, I gotta stick with my insane loli obaa-chan stalker reputation XD.

My vote is pretty obvious…

Koshimizu Ami as Horo in Spice & Wolf. Brilliant invention.
But I also like Paku Romi as Kuromitsu in Kurozuka, Tomatsu Haruka as Nagi in Kannagi, and even Kugimiya Rie as Taiga in Toradora. She’s finally reaching me.
Neya Michiko and Fujiwara Keiji would be good choices, too, lol. Not Kaneda Tomoko, however, as far as I’m concerned.

I voted for Kikuko Inoue, if mainly because she rocks as a villainess, even though her voice there wasn’t much different from her Belldandy voice.

I’m quite pessimistic and pretty sure Aya will get the crown, with the amount of Haru/Ayatard in the other side of the world.. but there’s hope they will never know this category exists.
I actually like the idea of gathering votes for someone random, it’d be funny if KaneTomo do win.. lol I haven’t even given a thought on the original categories.

*shrugs* the category itself is so vague - ‘Fan’s (sic) Choice’, I don’t even know what to consider. 30% are going to vote because they liked a seiyuu’s particular role this year [the rationals], another 65% will vote because they absolutely love X seiyuu even if they did bugger all this year [the fanboys/fangirls] and the remaining 5% will vote for Kaneda Tomoko cos they know the Seiyuu Awards are screwed anyway

I vote Fukuen Misato because she is awesome…sadly I doubt she’ll get many votes if any so maybe that was stupid

“The results of the vote shall determine the first assessment. A second assessment shall be held by the Seiyu Awards Selection Committee.”
Does that mean, they still get to decide who wins anyway? Bah.
My vote could have gone to Koshimizu Ami, but I’ll stick with Tomoko Kaneda for the lulz factor.

Tomokazu Sugita FTW. As Gintoki Sakata, he’s responsible for changing my ideas about how a sporadically employed single adult male should behave. I.e. selfishly, *until* evil threatens, and then just be unrelentingly awesome. Sugita seems like a droll fellow in his own right, also.
I just reread this and realized I fall into j1m0ne’s ‘Guys who like male seiyuu’ category so hard it hurts. Give me a break.

Voted Koshimizu Ami for Spice and Wolf, Horo was that awesome.

I give up. I was choosing between Romi Paku, Sawashiro Miyuki, Kuwashima Houko, Orikasa Fumiko, and some other people…
I think I’ll go with Kuwashima Houko, just cuz she’s mad-awesome
November 30th, 2008 at 1:44 am
Went for Sawashiro Miyuki. Why not? Maybe my feelings will get through. :3
November 30th, 2008 at 2:01 am
Actually, I voted for Sawashiro Miyuki as well. ^_^
I was considering Paku, Kuwashima, Orikasa, Kobayashi Sanae and Kawasumi Ayako as well, but I guess I ultimately went with Sawashiro because… well, like Hashihime said, she’s “one of a kind.”
I apologize, but there is no reason I can give for choosing her that Hashihime hasn’t already expressed before.
Unfortunately, since most people (especially casual connoisseurs) usually pick the captivating, fascinating, stimulating, popular idol actresses over the true vocal technicians (or at least the companies in charge rig it to appear that way), I’m not really sure if she’s going to win. I’d be perfectly content if any of the other aforementioned performers obtained/acquired the victory, though.
If Miyuki had never entered the entertainment industry (it would be an INCREDIBLE shame if she didn’t), my choice would most likely be Ayako. I’m sorry, but I am just an IMMENSE fan of her wide, broad range as a seiyuu.

I voted Chiwa Saito for Kemeko. She has been due for an award.
November 30th, 2008 at 3:30 am
Being the fangirl that I am, my vote is going to Mamoru Miyano. He’s a one-of-a-kind seiyuu that really gives it his all in his performances. I know this series ended last year, but his performance as Light Yagami almost made me cry at the end of Death Note. As for this year, I just think he’s excellent as Soul Eater’s Death the Kid.

Hazuki Erino for hahi-chan.
ハヒ~
November 30th, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Damnit, so NOONE’s going to vote Kobayashi Ai now?
November 30th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
@issa-sa
Go ahead and vote for her, you’ve got my full support
December 2nd, 2008 at 7:12 am
I went with Yukino Satsuki, she’s the first voice I remembered :3
December 6th, 2008 at 9:47 am
[...] was tempted to pick some ridiculous choice like Miyu Matsuki (or Tomoko Kaneda) for comedy value, though I don’t have the coordination to pull it [...]
December 6th, 2008 at 11:04 am
The first Seiyuu Awards someone dismissed Horie Yui and Tamura Yukari because they are…. well… ‘too old’?
I mean come on, how about some recognition to ‘older’ Seiyuus rather than giving all the young ‘uns all the limelight?
My vote goes to Tamura Yukari.

Koshimizu Ami for her Horo role. Ok, I know I voted one year after everybody but there’s the second season of Spice and wolf.
Usually, I vote for Tanaka Rie but in 2009, she didn’t have any lead role.
