Voting for Third Seiyuu Awards Opens
The moment you’ve all been waiting for for is here! Public voting for the third Seiyuu Awards has been open as of 1st October 2008 and will close 1st January 2009. Secondary judging/inspection (whatever that is) from 5-12 January 2009, final inspection on 19 January and the awards ceremony itself on 7th March.
I think the criteria is the same as it was last year from first glance, so refer to the steps on my guide last year on how to register your vote. Voting page here.
I’ll leave my vote until further end of 2008 when the autumn season has gotten into full swing (why on earth is voting so early anyway
), but I have a few ideas on who I think will pick up awards based on the pattern of the previous two years (*cough*Macross*cough*Maeno Tomoaki*cough). I hope, but don’t expect there to be a nomination list this time… sigh. Let the sucking up and bootlicking commence!
Last year’s results here.

For once, I’m not gonna vote, sit back and wait for the results to come up in order to O_o / O_O / o_O at. lol
Isn’t online voting unreliable? Someone could spam accounts just to spam votes… Experienced that once before on an online competition, and it s*cked. >x(((
Thanks for alerting us to this. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think voting is limited to one vote per IP. So people with dynamic IPs can possibly spam to some extent, but there are no accounts involved, so multiple accounts is not a method.
Like j1m0ne, I’ll wait to vote until I can really judge the fall shows, but at this moment I would vote for Koshimizu Ami (Horo in Spice & Wolf) for female lead, and I’m not sure about any of the other awards. Maybe it’s time for Endou Aya (Sheryl in Macross) as best female “newcomer,” completing a Lucky Star trifecta. Maeno Tomoaki could be the best male “newcomer” (Doujou in Library War). The male lead performances I’ve enjoyed most may be Kishio Daisuke (Kaname in Vampire Knight) and Uchida Yuuya (Nijuumensou), if either of those roles is a lead.
Just wondering, does the vote only count for shows that STARTED airing in 2008? What about long running series that started in 2006 or 2007 but are still going strong now with no end in sight?
Even though being a pretty big seiyuu fan for long, I never really bother with this so called award at all. Probably not gonna bother with either again.^^ Only if there’s one of for the worst seiyuu award then I’d be more than glad to involve…hehe.
On the side note, my trip planning is getting a bit frustrated with the events I wanna attend. So many of them required advance reservation on the goods and paying in advance which are totally cost to impossible for foreigners with no Japanese contacts.>__< Since I really want to attend those so guess I’ll have to fork out the dough…^^;
Need you guys’ feedback on making a decision since kinda hard for me to choose.^^ On the 26th, there’s the Mamimami handshake event and the NHK show, The Net Star public recording. I kinda like that show myself even though I really don’t care much about the hosts but they do have seiyuu guest every time plus Yuzuki Ryouka and Seki Tomokazu voices part in it. The recording will actually be for November and December airing. The guests are Matsuki Miyu and yet Kaneda Tomoko again(Shiraishi…not Ryouko but Minoru also who I don’t care about at all.^^;) Both starts at 12:30 noon so can only go to one. Noto event probably last about an hr and half most I assume and the show recording is actually the whole afternoon so I can basically waste the whole afternoon there. The going rate at the auction is about the same. So which one should I go for? I’m leaning toward the latter since sounds fun evne though the Oct. airing was pretty boring since was about retro stuff even though Emirin was on the show. The Noto event sounds interesting too but I never really been to event like that. Wonder if you just get to hear her talk in person then a handshake that’s all or get an autograph as well.
Still need to decide whether to bid on Tamura’s live ticket…Two concerts in two nights still sold out already?!…The floor ticket is gonna cost me alot plus they’re gonna send out the ticket just a week before the date so kinda hard for me to get it before my departure. At least there’s one event I’ll be going for sure thanks to a Japanese seiyuu fan who is nice to help me out and got me an Inoue Marina event ticket at the Nihon University art festival on Nov. 2nd today! Also asked him to check on the Kobayashi Yuu event on Nov. 1st and hopefully they would still have those by then.(one of those deal you buy her radio CD and get to attend it deal.) Wonder those Macross bun can would be still on sale or not around end of the month… Know the Clannad ones is already sold out last week.
@Yoruko
God knows with their ‘fuzzy’ criteria. I just say vote for whoever the heck you like
@D
I guess handshake events literally mean just lining up to shake hands ^^; Otherwise they’d call it poster signing event? I dunno, I guess I’d rather shake Noto Mamiko’s hand than hear a public recording, which has high chances of being terribly boring
Still undecided which to go since if I go to that tv program recording, then I won’t be able to go to Mikako’s Payo Payo at night unless I ditch the second part. You’re probably right about the handshaking event…probably just that and the talk. Looks like I won’t have any event to go on the first day seeing Tamura’s live both are sold out already and won’t be able to make the free short 40 min live at Akiba UDX at 2pm with Koshimizu Ami and others.( http://www.macademi.tv/special/event_05.html ). Kobayashi Yuu’s Nov. 1st event pass is out also so can’t go…>__< DAMN… Really want to see her live at least once. Why can’t it be on the 1st instead… Guess I’ll just go see Marina then.
j1m0ne: If criteria is fuzzy and the voting is rigged, I’m going to vote Rie Tanaka for her role as Minna in Strike Witches.
I can’t stand Strike Witches but RIE TANAKA FIGHTING GO GO GO
