Weekly News Shorts #3 - Gaming, Movies, Cast Blabber & Karting
Hey all, long time no see. Don’t worry, I haven’t fallen into a deep pit and expired somewhere…
I’ve actually spent my weekend doing more ‘normal’ things (away from stalking seiyuu) such as playing Rhythm Tengoku Gold, which like its GBA predecessor, is insanely addictive. And RenAi Blogger of course, though I’m still slowly dragging myself through it. Yaoi paddled (;゜▽゜)
I’ve also been catching up with all the movies I’ve put off watching for the last 3-4 years in lieu of anime - random stuff like Little Miss Sunshine, Super Size Me and Spider Lilies (3D-yuri FTW), and maybe I’ll get around to stuff like Juno, Eastern Promises and I’m Not There pretty soon. Anyone got any arty-farty/psycho or documentary-type stuff to recommend? For reference, my favourite movies are Fight Club, Memento and Battle Royale.
Back to the normal stuff - random seiyuu cast news that has been confirmed (I should like, get a Twitter account for all this):

Saito Chiwa joins Rosario to Vampire CAPU2 cast as… now how on earth do you read this.. Shuzen Kokoa? Cocoa? Whatever. Someone out there must still be watching this…
Inoue Marina (Shinagawa Marina), Saiga Mitsuki (Kikyo Motoki) & Canna Nobutoshi (Kamogari Keita) are the latest names to join the Itazura na Kiss cast. All three confirmed the news on their respective blogs - Marinavi!, Chikyu no Ko da mono and Nobulog (vaguely).
We must all know the new additions to the Nodame Cantabile cast surely? Ohara Sayaka (Son Rui), Ito Shizuka (Tanya), Asanuma Shintaro (Franck), Hino Satoshi (Yunlong), Morikawa Toshiyuki (Jean) & Kiyokawa Motomu (Charles) join Kawasumi Ayako & Seki Tomokazu in Paris.
Ito Shizuka and Furusawa Tohru ‘join’ the ef -a tale of melodies- cast. I say join, because Shizuka was already in the game’s cast under her Misaki Rin alter ego.
Inoue Marina and Miyano Mamoru are rumoured to be leading the Skip Beat! cast.
Horie Yui, Ogawa Mana, Sakamoto Maaya, Kaida Yuko, Kuwashima Houko & Goto Yuki are supposed to be in Hyakko along with Orikasa Fumiko, Neya Michiko, Ochiai Yurika & Hirano Aya. Supposed to…, but I’ll only believe it when I see/hear it.
Joy, we’re getting official Seiyuu Awards DVDs. As the 2channel reaction goes…
(-_- )
(∩ ∩) どーでもいぃゃ…
Translation: Who gives a shit.
Mizuki Nana and her karting escapades…

Remember that karting thing I mentioned a few weeks ago? The final results are in and er well, the girls didn’t do that great did they? They ended up joint 24th and even got a 60-second penalty after incurring a yellow flag for spinning out. But what’s funnier? The guys did even worse LMAO. Namikawa, Miki & co only managed to finish joint 31st out of 35 (total of 97 teams).

Strangely, Nana & co. still managed to snag a nice-looking trophy (above) for their efforts. The ‘Ladies Trophy’ >_< Just beacuse they had a team and backup crew consisting entirely of people with the XX chromosome >_< There was even a small mention of ‘the famous seiyuu Mizuki Nana (aka Kondo Nana)’ on the official site. Seems she only got her license in May and barely got any practice in so GJ anyway ^^;
Ito Shizuka’s blog makes me laugh

Maybe I’m a little biased anyhow, but I’m happy that Shizuka’s blog features something other than the regulation pictures of food, cats and nail art…hello, stupid Ono-D(aisuke) and a dreadlocked Yamaguchi Kappei~~~

~~~and hugs with Nabatame Hitomi ^^
Just watched the Rhythm Tengoku Gold video…it even LOOKS addicting! *dances to beats*
I have a few friends who read the Skip Beat manga and say that it’s good, and if, IF, Inoue Marina and Miyano Mamoru are going to be playing the leads…sign me up!
LOL Kappei! ><
- Spider Lilies was too depressing for me, I prefer Love My Life a lot more. It was draggy but I love a happy yuri life.
- Arty-farty/psycho movies.. Park Chan Wook’s vengeance trilogy were awesome. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance was my favorite.
- It’s Misaki RinA btw. Igunis and Kuonji Shinra = WIN
@Vness: I gave up Skip Beat after chapter 3-4. >_> Even Inoue Marina won’t make me watch the anime.
I’m not really tempted to watch Skip Beat!, I must say. Itazura na Kiss has filled my shojo quota for 2008… or maybe I’ll succumb to Hakushaku to Yosei :/
>danie~
Strangely, I’m not into Asian cinema much. Probably something to do with the fact that I’ve seen a few hundred Chinese-language ‘arthouse’ movies that absolutely did my head in (Chungking Express, In the Mood for Love). Though I have been interested in the Vengeance Trilogy for a while but never quite got round to it…
And Spider Lilies was well… a bit dull but not too depressing for me. It did have a happy ending, sort of ^^; I only watched it to gauge the performance of the two young idols anyhow (Jeebus Bella makes a hot dyke, even if her Mandarin is stiffer than a frozen piece of cardboard).
